    • I didn't even get a confirmation email yet. But I was charged via paypal.

      • I got an invoice later on by mine was cancelled citing price error. Understandable for a small business.

        • My email said that they'd offer me a special price if I'd like to keep the order. I asked what the price it would be. They never got back to me. They could have just stated the price in the email.

          • @xsolider: Just realised they never refunded my payment for this - did anyone else get a refund?

            • @tieke: I got refunded on 31/12, same day as I responded to the price error email.

            • @tieke: Just checked, no refund, they didn't respond to the emails either.

              • @xsolider: I emailed them this afternoon saying I wanted the refund, and have now received a reply saying they would go ahead with that. Worth getting confirmation, as it looks like the refunds won't be made automatically.

    • Hey do you know what will happen to Warranty if the shop closed down?

Hey do you know what will happen to Warranty if the shop closed down?

In general, if the business itself is closed (as opposed to just the store), then your warranty rights with the business will become effectively worthless, as will your CGA rights, since there will be nobody to 'stand behind' those obligations. If the business is in liquidation (say), then you would be an unsecured creditor, meaning you would not be likely to get any satisfaction with respect to a claim.

If you also received a manufacturer's warranty, then that might still be good, but I think many items from Appliance Outlet explicitly exclude a manufacturer's warranty (one of the reasons the prices were generally quite sharp).

        • +1

Yes pretty sure they scratch off any serial numbers so they can sell at a steep discount.

          • @jackvdbuk: Yes, they deal (or dealt) in refurbs, open box, seconds… Can't claim warranty over those so the serials get removed

    • Anything good left? Worth a visit still?

Except it would take 2 mins to price match at TWH but 20 mins at Chemist.

        • +1

Yeah and it can get embarrassing when they hold up the line and get 5 different managers to come check etc

          • +1

            @quote:

Yeah and it can get embarrassing when they hold up the line and get 5 different managers to come check etc

Awkward, embarrassing, sure, but they would just have to put up with it, and if they lost a few customers behind me in the queue because they couldn't be bothered to wait, or never came back again due to their slow process, I would try my best to be philosophical about it.

            ;->

            • @Alan6984: Yup, its about sending a f'n message!

Managing to tie up five managers too would be a bonus, but I strongly suspect I will never get as lucky as quote does!

      Interesting T&Cs for their promotion:
All orders must reach the minimum order value of $39 to receive promotion.
      Gift Details
Limit of two per Whittakers 250g block flavour per order before courier fees but after any discounts, regardless of how much the order exceeds the qualifying spend.
Maximum 6 Whittakers 250g Blocks per customer.
Whittakers 250g Blocks are not transferable, exchangeable, or redeemable for cash, credit, or alternative products.
If Whittakers 250g Block is out of stock, Paddock to Pantry reserves the right to substitute with a product of equal or greater value at its discretion.

      • +4

        WTF. Is that even legal!
        Edit: Specifically, the substitute part.
I don't want something else you can't sell, seriously.

        • Don't supermarkets sometimes do this with online orders? I guess if you agree to the terms in the contract…

          • +1

@nzmax: Yes and no. They usually give you the option to select which products you allow substitutions for. If you don't allow it and they don't have stock, they will refund you.

Can someone else besides myself buy the $2 Jess's Underground Kitchen meal from PNS Mill St.
    https://www.paknsave.co.nz/shop/product/5328125_ea_000pns

I've eaten chicken for the last week straight and have enough for the next two weeks. They keep restocking it.

Can someone else besides myself buy the $2 Jess's Underground Kitchen meal from PNS Mill St.

      They keep restocking it.

Time for a Cheapies road trip.

Line up behind me as we come past. We'll strip the shelf, wait until the timer elapses, then when the shelf automagically re-stocks, we go again until our bags of holding are full.

This time, nobody, and I mean NOBODY, is to attempt to place a bag of holding inside another bag of holding to get more of the Wakrak deals - you know it took us weeks to unwind the continuum last time!

FINALLY FOUND THEM. It’s because they had no price or label.

Grabbed another four JUK roast chicken meals too

        • My wife just went 30 mins ago and they hadn't got them out yet :(

          • +1

@apieceofpie: I left two JUK behind and maybe 6 or so vege korma (they’re lying flat so quite hard to see).

If she saw someone doing five laps around the frozen section, that was me.

            • @Wakrak: You may have been just before or after her, but she similarly was doing laps and couldn't see them. Asked several employees and they said they've got construction happening out back which limits their access to the frozen storage area, and they had had a tonne of people asking after them all day.

        • Grabbed another four JUK roast chicken meals too

          Cluck!

          • @Alan6984: My chin does seem to be getting quite red and flabby….

Mine too - I think its just age though.

        • Tomorrow's Meals Roast Lamb & Veggies Frozen Meal 400g also $2.
Might try my luck this arvo

          • @apieceofpie: Haven't been able to find the Tomorrow's Meals for a while but I could also be blind as evidenced above

      • Haven't been able to find it last two weeks. Same with all of the Tomorrow Meals.

    • $12.50 in Wellington!

      • Right! Why can't we get such deals 😭

    • All gone on the shelf :(
Travelled all the way for this.. oh well
      Will try again tomorrow.

      • +1

I got the story from someone, they have extremely infrequent access to the freezers once construction starts, so best time to go is early morning before construction starts.

        • Got five vege korma this morning around 8am. Zero $2 JUK in-stock.

          • @Wakrak: I went yesterday morning for opening time and still had to ask someone to rummage out back as none were in the freezers, they managed to find one x6 box of the $2 lamb meals, but none of the chicken. I think their inventory system is maybe a bit out of whack with the freezer disruptions maybe.

I did see some kormas but my wife didn’t like the look.

AEG 58V 18” Brushless Lawn Mower with 8Ah battery $479.25 on clearance at Bunnings due to discontinuation.

There are a handful left in stock in some stores around the country:
    https://bunningsnz.youinstock.com.au/search/0467375

    • Doesnt show on website, but rated 4.7 out of 5 with 16 reviews on power pass

      • But when battery dies out, will it become an expensive garden ornament?

        • Some info on AEG’s website here. Looks like they’ll continue to provide limited support after the end of warranties on an individual basis.

          • @dunnersdealer: 2.at mt roskill
            Both without batteries
Be careful there are some hopeless staff there!

            • +3

@Just Leads cheap: PowerPass mentions the kit includes: 58V 18" Brushless Lawn Mower, 8.0Ah ULTIMATE HD Battery, 58V 5A Charger

              • +1

@dunnersdealer: Great thank you. I am heading to new Lynn to pick one up. Seems like a good deal considering seg will honour the warranty for six years once registered

    • What's the difference between this and their new mower?

      • they are doing away with 58v mowers and sticking to 36v afaik

Ive had so many issues lately with instore price match i rarely bother now. Probably why they make it so hard..

      • how come?

        • They never do! Online will say only instore instore will say no unless in same area making the price match fairly useless!

          • @liz181: You may need to persevere then because there's nothing in the price promise policy that states that it needs to be in the same region. I've never had issues here in Hamilton.

          • @liz181: Warehouse (lyall bay) always price matches for me no matter how far away the other store is.

            • @quote: Oh wow!

            • @quote: same for me at Napier but all depends who i get at Hastings but majority of the time it works no matter how far away the store is.

              • @jamie12345: Porirua always refuse as well unless "in the area" ie Wellington!

    • Thanks. Grabbed one pack each in PnS Manukau last weekend.

Just went into Queen Street, they've already pulled them off the shelves.

      • Pulled or sold out? I noticed the same at Westgate store for the rosehip oil

        • Chemist warehouse stores pull them off the shelf. Confirmed by the people working there multiple times that management tell them to.

They've even said things like "we've been told we can't sell them" to me in the past.

Purchase a $150 Prezzee Smart e-Gift Card and receive $10 free via Prezzee app.

    • Cheers! I managed to purchase one now as I know I’ll easily spend $150 on groceries. Here is the link for the card to buy, which also has the Black Friday pop up message: https://www.prezzee.co.nz/store/prezzee-ltd-ed-nz-gift-card/

      • Are there fees for purchasing / loading and / or redeeming?

I guess, as long as they are less than $10 in total across both the $150 and $10, then you are up anyway?

        • These aren't prepaid Visa cards (that's Prezzy). These are gift cards that can only be redeemed towards other gift cards, for the retailers listed on the Prezzee site. There aren't any fees for purchasing/redeeming the Prezzee gift card, and they cannot be reloaded.
