Recommend waiting until tomorrow to see if they do free shipping on a Friday (if you get in real early, can often get free shipping with no spending cap).

    • Currently 10% off vouchers too:

Can be used towards any purchase including clearance.

      • 20% off including clearance black Friday sale. Could stack up on voucher

        • I would only buy what you intend to use this year as their gift vouchers only have a 12 month validity at the moment.

In a months time (from the 16th March) the Fair Trading (Gift Card Expiry) Amendment Act 2024 comes into play which will require all gift vouchers to be valid for at least 3 years.

    TCL 50" UHD Smart LED TV $250 (ex-hotel TV's - model TCL 50P8M - no stand)
    https://techoutlet.co.nz/products/tcl-50-uhd-smart-led-tv

    • +3

That’s a very old model and a cheap tcl at that.

U less the warranty term is worth it, it’s definitely a pass !

    • TCL 50" UHD Smart LED TV $250 (ex-hotel TV's - model TCL 50P8M - no stand)

I don't know anything about that specific model, but many years ago, I used to wholesale commercial panels to places like hotels and motels amongst others.

Things might well have moved on substantially, but back then, commercial panels had way less features than retail, and were definitely not really something you would want to have in your lounge as many basic features just weren't included.

As I say, was some years ago, so I might be way off now.

      • +4

Considering the os spying and feeding everything back and planned obsolescence, less features may be a good thing these days. Frustrates me you can't buy a good 4k panel with high refresh rate and vrr without all the smart stuff. Ours takes ages to boot up and I can't use quick start because it causes issues with other devices if I use it.

      • Still 100% the case.

Commerical displays are not intended to be TVs.

      • Wouldn't plugging in a Chromecast with Google TV solve most of those issues?

        • This is generic (not specific or at all about the unit linked above), and based on what I would see some years ago:

Commercial panels often didn't have much of a 'user interface' accessible from the unit itself at all.

They were designed to be managed over an ethernet LAN connection, and be setup en masse via configuration applications, with the aim that users (in hotel / motel rooms) could not muck up the configuration much, if at all.

They also often had disabled HDMI and other inputs (with all the streams coming in over the network from a central hub) although that was probably less common.

Sometimes they would be locked to a maximum volume (much less than you would expect on a home TV), and lower brightness than you might get on a normal TV (I would guess to improve their lifetimes since people might leave them on 24/7 in their rooms)

Having said all that - this one (above) is only $250 so might be worth looking at for a secondary room?

  • Saw these on the front page when browsing Amazon, don't know how good they are but appear to be a bit cheaper than what's available locally, though admittedly I didn't do much looking around, just had a quick check of the prices at PB Tech then came here, so there may be better/cheaper options available.

  • [Warehouse WANAKA] Clearance Printers most worth it being Canon PIXMA G3630 MegaTank 3-in-1 Printer — $199.97. Only 1 in stock - RRP around 300 bucks

  • PS5 Pro - Doesn't feel like much of a deal given the constant price hikes on these things, but this was the cheapest I could get one right now:

Noel Leeming CSCBG Main: $1423.32 (In-store price, online more expensive) + $50 Cash Back Loop offer from ANZ Visa. Picked up disc drive from The Warehouse $139 + $5 Cash Back Loop offer from ANZ Visa. (all retailers are $139, no CSCBG discounts). + $14.20 Airpoints Dollar earn.

    Effective price with all discounts/rebates:
With Disc drive: $1493.12 (Retail: $1727)
    Console only: $1360.39 (Retail: $1588)

    • Far out. I was hesitant when buying my PS5 in 2022 for $770.

      It's gone crazy now

        It's gone crazy now

Is the PS5 Pro referenced above the same thing as we bought in 2022 (we got the one with the drive) - also for something like $750 I think.

Wondering if the 'Pro' means something compared the the original version(s)?

If the same, then I second your 'Far Out' !

        • Pro is different, more powerful

          • @quote:

            Pro is different, more powerful

            Okay - thanks.

Seemed hard to imagine the price more than doubling in a few years!

            • @Alan6984: Its still gone up a bunch tho, rather than down

    • This is going to be a long generation with the way computer components are going, ps5 slim are now over 1k, and going to be in high demand once gta6 comes out in nov 2026.

  • Wonder if they know and have removed stock none in about 5 warehouses around me

  • Samsung S26 phones currently a pretty good deal on EPP stores. Was valid on Govt/AIA that I have access to.
    As per email:
Code: PDSD-W20E (says up to 100 redemptions)
    S26 256GB - $1079.40
    S26 Ultra 256GB - $1529.40
    Fold 7 512GB - $1824.50

They also have trade-in boost (or accessories) of $250 when buying the S26 Ultra. Might also be on other models but didn't check. No other codes I tried including from their support chat could stack.

    I traded in my S23 Ultra 512GB to a S26 Ultra 256GB and was charged $769.40.

        • +2

          And mediocre customer service

        • I have had good deals from pb tech and briscoes. I will say this about pb tech tho, the times i have had problems, getting any after sales help is like getting blood from a stone, briscoes is the opposite
