@Liger Zero: Yes a discount is a promotional offer but CW's price guarantee exclusions state a part of a promotional offer though and give a couple examples
"a part of a promotional offer e.g. buy one get one free or 2 for $10"

I think it's fair to assume it's those types of promotions that are excluded and not everything that is on sale, otherwise they'd have to make their advertised promise a lot clearer.

                • +1

@Stoic: Interesting, to me it reads like any promotion, and they only provide 2 examples. It wouldn’t really make sense to list every type of promotion, there’s so many possibilities.

But I do agree it should be much clearer. Perhaps they leave it vague on purpose to give them wiggle room on when to allow the price match.

              • @Liger Zero: Can someone who has been successful or knows how to advocate for themselves give a foolproof guide on how to take advantage of this offer? Anticipating my store will also claim that it’s part of a promotional offer and I yearn to have a ‘🤓👆’ moment

                • @toes: Do what i did, have the t and cs page on ya phone and atgue ya case. If all else fails get their name position etc and complain to company and
, when complaining to company let them know if you dont get the advertised deal ya next stop is comcom,

And get 3 products, dnt listen if they say u can only have 1

                  • @quote: Oh, so you were successful then?

Do you know if complaining about a worker to the company regarding refusing price beats does anything? I’m not sure if it was the strategy of my store, but last time when I went in to price match somethings from $25+ to $5, the manager helping me made it seem like they/the store would get in trouble by the company if they didn’t follow through with all the protocols precisely. I’ll definitely bring up the ComCom thing if it gets to that point though! Thank you

                    • +1

@toes: Yeah i got 3 (have been jerked around by them b4, saying only 1 item, also if its below $5 they only match not beat, both lies)
Totally complain if they not following their own t and cs.

                      • +1

@quote: First store didn’t have stock so went to another and yeah as expected, it’s a Club Deal promotion where you have to be a member so they can’t fulfil it. I argued it’s not stipulated in their T&C’s but was just going in circles and their stance wasn’t changing. I asked for their name and position and will see how to file a complaint to the ComCom :/

Debating whether I should try a third store or call it a day 😂

                        • @toes: The thing is you don't actually need to be a member, staff at nw will just swipe a card for you.

Email and complain to cws before you go to comcom. That way u will either get the deal, or have an email excuse from them that you can send comcom as proof.

                          https://www.chemistwarehouse.co.nz/contactus/

                          • @quote: I went to another store and they said the same thing, but added that they spoke to the regional or some big manager outside of the branch, and they said that it excludes all club deals. This store was quite understanding and told me straight up that I can send a complaint to Chemist Warehouse first so I’ll do that and what you just said before going to ComCom. Love this drama hahaha

@toes: I got bargain chemist for price matching no problem

@daunjan: Interesting, I got declined in the past as they only do price beat with pharmacies.

"Our commitment to our policy means that if you find an identical in stock item cheaper at a competing New Zealand pharmacy we will match the price and give you an extra 10% off the difference. "

                                https://www.bargainchemist.co.nz/pages/pricebeatguarantee

              • @Liger Zero: But not similar to the examples in the t and cs

    • Went to buy two. After a 10 minute phone call with someone at the service desk the Warehouse would only match 1 for me. Also saying something about not being able to price promise "1 day only" deals. Bit of a hassle the hoops that they want you to jump through. Mitre10 are generally much better to deal with.

      • That is actually one of their conditions though so at least they aren't making stuff up, but… was it a 1day deal?

        As for buying 1? There's usually a 10 limit

        • +1

I just want them to price promise or not. The drawn out process is the worst outcome for me so I didn't argue with them about their stated 10 limit or ask how a supermarket fit the category of "daily deal website". I suspect that it's a week long deal at PnS but even if it a single day promotion the fact a physical store location exists invalidates the website part of that clause.

    • No issue price beat @ Chemist Warehouse, I got them for $5.49. They had to call PNS Masterton to ensure it's not price error and in stock. Took a bit of time though

    • Thanks, got one price matched at The Warehouse.

    • Again Wakrak for the win !

      • +1

Report it to the Commerce Commission https://contact.comcom.govt.nz/gsp?id=sc_cat_item&sys_id=357…. There have been enough instances that CW have dodged their 'Price Promise' obligations or manipulated it by removing stock.

      • Care to say which store so no1 else goes there for a bare shelf?

      • Did they call PAK'nSAVE Masterton?

        • +1

No idea i was getting a bit mad coz rhe guy was taking forever & i was sure he was finding a reason to decline it! But got it in the end

          • @liz181: Long story short. $2.70 for three.

            • @Peter Wyngarde: They do it based on 10% of the price difference so should be $14*0.1 price difference

              So $1.00-$1.40=-$0.40 each

Normally this policy works in their favour and they have to give pretty much no discount other than a price match and get the sale

              • @Rowjo: You're 100% correct. I know that. They know that. But they refused. And they lied. I pushed back. They were intransigent. No free goods!

                • @Peter Wyngarde:

      • their computer system couldnt process the amount - I dont know why it should have been about 89cea then I said I can do cash and it went through FREE wierd system!

        • It should have been free as its not 10% discount its 10% off the difference, so would have ended up under 0. Just amazed they actually did
