Spigen Essential 67W USB-C PD GaN Fast Charging Wall Charger White $28 + Shipping ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ PB Tech

This is the cheapest 67 W GaN charger available in New Zealand. I own all the Spigen GaN models (30 W, 47 W, and 67 W), and they’ve all been excellent.

  • Can't find any specs, does it support 20v to charge a laptop?

    • +1

Yes it can do 20v to charge a laptop, new product at pbtech so listing doesnt have full spec sheet however i have confirmed with my unit.

      • can you provide some insight into the wall charger. how long you had it for, pros and cons. thanks

        • +1

Had the 30W version since late November with no issues. I recently picked up the 47W and 67W models after the price dropped. Both (47/67) charge my ThinkPad without any problems and don’t overheat in my testing.

I honestly can’t think of any cons, no coil whine or anything like that.

I remember the 67W costing over $50 before, so don’t let the current low price scare you in terms of quality. It’s solid and the brand is good.

  • Does the 67w do sfc2.0?

    • Yes, it supports SFC 2.0, charges my S23 and s24u at max speed

  • I wonder if it actually does PPS at 11V and 4A, like a proper SFC 2.0, or only 3A max like most chargers. Especially, I doubt if the 47W can do that. Has anyone tested it?

    • +1

67W says PPS 5v-11v 5A on the bottom, 47W says 3A. Amazon EU has these chargers up, i think you could check those reviews out

    • Have just bought the 47 and 67W versions. Interestingly the 47W does seem support SFC 2.0, even though it's not in the specs. Confirmed it charges my S24 ultra at 45W, and the charger reports PPS at up to 5A: https://imgur.com/a/wlPayOD

      • thats good, random sidenote is that a cuktech usb c cable i see ? haha

  • +3

Random side note but I'm noticing a range of older products aren't charging with modern fast chargers.
Need to keep a few standard old wall chargers around to cover them.

These are devices that were basically swapped from Micro-USB or similar without proper wiring for USB-C. They typically only charge with A to C cables as a result, including from the USB-A port on these newer multi port chargers.
It's a frustrating trend for cheap products, I try avoid them if i can discover the limitation from reviews in advance of buying.

  • Can you recommend any good cables to go with this charger? Assume it doesn't come with any? Cheers

I have a few of these, works great with plenty of overhead for future use. It's only USB 2.0, so if you want to use them for data transfer that requires faster speeds you'll need to find a later USB model.

Baseus! i have multiple, they are simular to Anker & Ugreen but i really like their cables.

      I use this one:https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/CABBAS0003/Baseus-Dura-Fast-Charging-Data-Cable-USB-C-to-USB
out of stock but they have some other models which you should check out

      • +1

Agree - they’ve been my go to on aliexpress for years.

Watch out for data capable usb C cables if you want to connect a phone to a computer or car stereo for example. There are a lot of charging only usb c cables out there.

When it comes to proper usb-c cables above 60watts they must have a emarker chip inside so it can communicate to the device/charger to ensure it can actually handle to the power/data transmitted.

pbtech were selling google usb-c cables for under $5ea so i went crazy and got 8 of them.

      • Thank you for that, that is really good info. What happens if I use a high quiality usb cable but it doesnt have e-mark chip?

        • 60watts is the max the charger will provide without the chip

  • @ intelarc I've just got a Motorola Moto G86 Power, which charger would you recommend to maximize the fast charging please 30w, 47w or 67w? It says: 6720mAh battery with 30W TurboPower on the description below, but I don't want to spend more than I need to please?

    https://www.dicksmith.co.nz/dn/buy/motorola-moto-g86-5g-128g…

    • 30w will be more than enough but the 47w has multiple ports so u can charge other things aswell

  • Wouldn't charging slowing down when you charge multiple devices at the same time? Or that is not the case in your opinion?

    • It depends on how they've designed the circuit(s) . Look at the image interlarc attached (bottom link) and it tells you the different combinations that are possible for each plug and whether it's single/double/triple ports in use. Most will share the total W across the ports - often with USB A on a much lower W circuit than USB C port(s) - but not always.

      • What's interesting with some of these things ks if you use wireless power it can act like both ports are in use and reduce your speeds. In the car I have a dash mount and flat rubber pad for wireless charging two devices, to get full speed on either charger I have to unplug the one not in use.

        • it still in use, Qi chargers (wireless) use little power when the phone is not connected so the power supply will reduce the current.

          • @coffeee: Yeah I figured that was the cause, it just limits the first ports charging pretty hard for a small residual level of power being drawn on the second port by the charger. I mostly leave the second pad unplugged now unless it's needed, one day I'll have a car with it built in but for now $5 ali express pads fill the need.

@Everettpsycho: i use this charger and this wireless one for car. have two connected. what pads you using?

              • @coffeee: Honestly can't remember what plug in using which is likely the issue, like the specs on the ones in the deal, the second you connect anything to port 2 the 47w port 1 is limited to 27W. I suspect the one in my car is lower than that.

Pad wise I have a couple of generic rubber mats for the coin tray and a tooki magsafe pad in trying in one of the cars for a bit. The dash mounts were tooki I think. They are all caoa ke if the good speeds when connected and not bottlenecked by the thing in the 12v socket

              • @coffeee: Thanks for the link, I decided to upgrade both cars to this model as the ones in there are a bit rubbish. Useful to use one with the 30w port, one in the USB C then there's a spare USB cable and A port if we need it. Saves digging around for cables if we need to charge one of the kids tablets one day. Seems ok in the first car in the way home. The USB C is limited and annoyingly the rubber pad/magsafe puck I use for the non mounted phone are both hardwired with USB C leads limiting their speed a bit.
