  • Yeah ive owned one of these… at taht price definitely better than the Living &Co one… at $399 is a bit horrendous!

Id recommend this one over the others ive used at anything under $140.00

    • I got an instant pot with stainless steel inner for $150 (down from $300) and its so goooood (and dishwasher friendly!)

  • How many litres?. Edit, This one is 6litres

Briscoes has this one on sale a few times, not sure which is better.

I'd probably lean towards the instant pot as it's an actual stainless steel pot not the ProCeramic+ Non-Stick Coating the Philips here has.

They both do the same thing though

      • I prefer the Nonstick. It doesn't get hot enough to make the coating peel off and leach, so unless you're scraping it with metal utensils the coating is fine. Nonstick won't burn on the bottom as long as there's enough liquid.

        • We find that being a pressure cooker the stainless steel is really really easy to clean (as opposed to other cooking situations where things can stick and burn to the stainless steel). Based on our experience with stables steel instapot, I would recommend against a non stick pressure cooker.

Everyone needs a pressure cooker in their house, consistent and fast rice in whatever quantity, and fast slow cooking.

I have had one from the Warehouse for years.

The only shame is that it has a teflon bowl, I'd upgrade if there was a pressure cooker with a stainless steel bowl.

    • +1

Yeah this is where the Instant Pot wins

      • +1

Nice, I didn't realise it existed and at a reasonable price from that earlier link, I'll have a poke around and probably do a replacement.

        • Keen for a stainless steel pressure cooker too please post if find any deals!

          • @doubledippps: Actually, I just noticed the title of the JB HiFi one is "With Stainless Steel Bowl", I think they have the pictures wrong on the link.

Here it is on another website:
            https://www.myer.com.au/p/philips-all-in-one-multi-cooker-wi…

            Which pictures the stainless bowl.

And the two bowls pictured (stainless and not) aligns with this seller:
            https://gopotatoes.co.nz/products/philips-all-in-one-multi-c…

            And the Philips website:
            https://www.philips.co.nz/c-p/HD2237_73/viva-collection-all-…

            "
Bundle pack with extra Stainless Steel inner pot

Versatile cooking with an extra pot in anti-scratch materials, complying food-grade safety. Suitable for 6L Philips All-in-One Cookers."

Which specifically says "while this special edition comes with a bonus stainless steel pot."

With that being said I'll probably buy this Instant Pot because the width and extra capacity is a big benefit:
            https://www.briscoes.co.nz/product/1121901/instant-pot-wide-…

Same price at Briscoes and Noel Leeming.

            • +1

@danvelopment: Would briscoes price beat Noel lemming which is actually 99c cheaper?

              https://www.noelleeming.co.nz/p/instant-pot-7.1l-rio-wide-mu…

              • @joshtnz: Confirming they will - just got it for $179. No issues at the checkout.

                • @joshtnz: Didn't think to ask, I just got home with mine at the $199 price. Everything is dishwashable which is a further benefit.

I bought a huge crown pumpkin from Costco yesterday ($6) so going to make a pumpkin soup tonight in it.

                  • @danvelopment: I got a Russel Hobbs one from 6 years ago. It works well but he inner pot teflon is looking pretty bad. Do you guys know if either the phillips one or this instant pot Rio would be a good upgrade or should I wait until my Russel Hobbs one is completely dead?

                    • +1

@Neotk: I just listed my old one for $1 reserve if you're happy with teflon:
                      https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/marketplace/home-living/kitchen/…

But I think stainless steel is a worthwhile upgrade for the health benefits (or, more accurately, lack of health risks), the fact it will never degrade and need replacing until the device does and that it can be put in the dishwasher.

Also I'd recommend never using scratched or damaged teflon (or teflon at all if you can avoid it, I didn't know they made stainless electric pressure cookers when I bought mine originally).

                      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SC2eSujzrUY

Same goes for avoiding anything aluminium that gets heated (or worse, most rice cookers have teflon coated aluminium bowls).

                • @joshtnz: Should have checked here before paying $199 😕 missed getting the price guarantee!

              • +1

@joshtnz: Yeah just got mine at $169 :) price beat + $10 voucher spending over $100

            • @danvelopment: Purchased Instant Pot Wide Rio Multi Cooker 7.1L from Briscoes yesterday (cashier tried to give me only $5 off, so I had to explain how math works).
But it's going back to the store as the steam is coming out from the right side. Moved and flipped the sealing ring but it didn't make any difference.

      • +1

Absolutely agree. Stainless steel bowl got me sold on Instant pot and it has been good. Though not using it too much.

    • I got put off by checking out the Instant Pot's construction. It just doesn't feel solid enough for me to be able to trust it storing up so much energy while sitting on my kitchen bench

  • +1

I have two instant pots one with airfryer lid and one regular. I use it almost every day and use it for cooking all my Indian food . After cooking I put the stainless steel pot in dishwasher.
For beginners I feel this will be great entry price imo . It's not suitable for every one as electric ⚡ pressure cooker has some learning curve

On the basis that JB Hi Fi will supply me the unit model type with the bonus stainless steel pot, I just ordered one. Reviews online look mostly good. Seems like a good usefull brand name (Philips) product deal. :)

    • +2

I also ordered one hoping that they will provide a SS pot in addition to the Teflon coated pot.

  • Stainless steel inner pot is the safest way to go instead of non-stick. especially at a high heat such as pressure cooking. Worth paying the extra for health reasons.

Just to clear up any confusion it does come with an extra stainless pot. I picked mine up yesterday.

    • +1

Same, the as pot is really good, it's heavy bottom and thick. Value for money.

  • +1

Chatgpt said the pressure rating for Philips $115 is 10 PSI (lower than stovetop) and Instant Pot $169 is 11–12 PSI (closer to standard), does this matter?

  • You little beauty !. This looks a really good Cheapies bargain here. Just picked my Philips unit up from JB Hi Fi , and can triple confirm now it's definitely the special edition version (HD2237/73). Which has the two inner pots, stainless steel and non stick black, included in the box. I'm totally new to this slow and/or pressure cooking, so one thing I'm hoping I can successfully do with it, in this "long cost of living crisis" where stuck in. Is to special cook in it some cheaper tougher cuts of meat. (So of course their softer easier to eat sort of thing). Thanks to Metza for spotting this deal. :)

  • Link is 404 not found on jbhifi's website now?
