What did you buy this week?

I always find it interesting seeing what people spend their money on.

This is a place to yarn about things you recently purchased that you're excited about using, or to show how much of a shopaholic you are. Where people might find a deal that hasn't already been posted on Cheapies, and a place to ask for advice on items that have been mentioned.

    • Hey
What’s this second hand chinese marketplace and how do you get items shipped to NZ?

      • It's called Xian Yu, quite a lot of scams happen on there but you just gotta check the seller reputation, its just like ebay. You'll need to pay via Alipay or Whatsapp in CNY. Chinese Debit card accepted. No Visa/Mastercard/AMEX (even though the logo is on there, it doesn't work i've tried). Sent to freight forwarder warehouse.

First thing I did when I got the Samsung EVO was put it through Samsung Magician and seems like I got lucky, good health, authentic and only 151gb written total lifetime.

        • Hey, so does that mean Visa via WeChat/Weixin Pay won't work, and I'll have to have CNY on my WeChat account?

Also, do you recommend any particular forwarder? Thanks :)

    • And the PLA lol - where did you score the $10 1kg roll?

      • That's usual price in China. The spool-less ones are 35cny. You need to either print your own spool holder or buy one. The esun PLA with spool are usually around 45-55cny

  • A few weeks ago, I bought a used HP Omen 16 2023 with i9-13900HX, RTX 4060, 32GB RAM and 240Hz screen refresh for $1200.

Just yesterday, I bought a new Lenovo Legion with Intel Ultra 9 275HX, RTX 5070, 32GB RAM and 240Hz screen refresh for $2850. This is much better than the model with worser specs, sold for around $3200 (discounted/sale) on Lenovo's website currently.

  • Spent a lot in the last couple of weeks, need to curb my spending a bit…

    • Used MSI Claw 8 AI+ for $1450 (RRP $1999)
    • Brand new HP Omen 15 (HyperX) 2026 model for around $3100 for my partner. This one has a AMD 8940HX, 24GB DDR5, RTX5070.
    • A couple of new watches to add to my collection. Some G-Shocks, some Tommy Hilfigers, some Seikos. I think about $5000 total.
    • New speakers for my car (old one was making some distorted sound) for $70
    • Used DJI Goggles 3 for my drone for $690 (RRP is around $950)
    • New kitchenware for $600
    • Brand new Gl.inet Mudi 7 for $650
    • Backed Gl.inet's new Kickstarter project for remote KVM for phones/tablets for $450
    • Brand new QuietComfort Ultra Gen 2 for $420
    • Galaxy Fold 8 (the passport one) for a friend as a gift for around $1350
    • Couple of new shoes for $400
    • Some new Ray-bans for $600

    And a few other ones I can't remember…

    • Can I be your friend?

    • Damn. Did you hit a jackpot or something? That's quite a haul. And definitely not on cheapies budget lol.

      • Hah! I wish……the most I ever won in lotto was like $20 and I buy every now and then, maybe once every 1~2 months.

I've always been a big spender. Not a good habit of mine. I'm just lucky to have a really good salary.

    • So it was YOU that outbidded me on the Seikos. Vendetta.
