    Which store?

  • Not online, must be store specific.

    • The ad is on the website now, in-store only.

      • Yeah it is not specific to store. The deal is nationwide.

      • Thanks, nice deal. I previously changed all the bulbs in my house to LEDs when these were 4 for $20 at Mitre 10, thought that was good deal. This is even better.

        • Cool, was three bulbs last time.

        • @Jay: Last time they sold quickly, with everyone buying 3 bulbs. This time everyone will buy 10 bulbs…

  • which store is it? any store?

  • I saw this in Porirua

  • I just went to Mitre 10 New Lynn and I can confirm there's stock, so I think it's a nationwide deal. Not a lot however.

  • I believe it's only at mega stores!

  • Bought these last time around. Very very happy with the last lot of stock if it is the same bulb. Provides savings of about $70 per year per light as compared with incandescents. Bulb itself is plastic so hard to break. Dropped one on to wooden floor from about 2 metres without any damage.

Great purchase. Get some, but not before I get a few more! Last time, store security told me that most of the stock was bought out by the staff, so be quick.

  • So is 800 lumens a good level of brightness?

    • +1

Technically, it is equivalent to 60 watts incandescent. However, with the newer generation of LEDs, reckon it is actually more like 80+ watts. Have put one of these up beside a 100 watt light, and you'd be hard-pressed to tell the difference. The 9w led bulb actually hurts your eyes to look directly at. Very little heat as well.

  • I got some of these last time, and they are quite good. However they are light weight, so not sure how good their reliability is long term.

  • Great deal! Missed out last time. Hopefully there's still some left this weekend.

Very unlikely, you'll need to be there by lunchtime at the latest if you want some. I can imagine a few tradies snapping them up in bulk.

        • got 12 without any questions

  • Thanks, picked up 10 today.

  • I just noticed bunnings is selling similar LED for $2.94, I wonder if this is a reaction to Mitre 10s deal?…

    • This one is non-dimmable (can't adjust brightness) and the Mitre10 one is dimmable.

      • Cool, thanks

        • I got the Mitre 10 one, it says non-dimmable on the box. You're not going to find a dimmable one at this price.

        • @Avantime: Oh I may read it wrong soz. Well now the Bunnings one looks better as it claims to have 30k hours of life. Mitre10 ones have 15k.

    • +1

You might want to put it in as a separate deal.

  • mt Welly branch have plenty of b22, however e27 almost gone

  • which is better? the mitre 10 ones or bunnings.

    • Mitre 10 ones are dimmable Corrected above, think that's the only difference apart from the price. Could be wrong though. Maybe they are the same, just depends which store is closer, or Bunnings if they are side by side.

    • The Bunnings ones appear to be rated at 10 watts as compared with 9 watts for the Mitre 10 bulbs. So in theory, Bunnings bulbs may be slightly brighter?

    • The Mitre 10 ones I got say 15000 hours, but the Bunnings ones claim 30000 hours, so thats one difference.

      • LEDs are usually given a life of 30-50K hours. But given the comparison with incandescents which are generally rated at 1.2K hours, not sure it really matters anyway.

30k hours is equivalent to 10 years (8 hours/day). Sure they'll have developed even better LEDs within 2-3 years. So lifespan isn't really a question now. Another lifespan factor is that these have plastic covers, not glass. They bounce rather than break so that must add onto the average lifespan of bulbs.
