  Why do these retail for so much?

  They are not mappable and from what I can see offer no benefit over “dumb” lights with a smart plug.

    they certainly arent twinkly, rrp is inflated no doubt, better than a smart plug as with a smart plug you can only turn off/on.
    might suit some people that dont care about mapping
