  • Beware, the charging base that is included with these can be faulty and are unrepairable. I bought one at Christmas and it only lastest 3 months and was refunded by PB Tech. No charging base working = no charge and dead speaker

    • Darn it was going to buy one until I read your comment. Might do some research on the charging base on these, how was the sound/build quality otherwise? Does it do streaming over wifi?

      • these plug straight into 240v and either do wifi or bluetooth. They sound pretty sweet.
be aware they exist in the google home ecosystem and will stream spotify natively.

    • Charging base??

I have two of these and they just plug in via. a two pin '8' shaped plug under the unit. No charging base.

    • Think you've got this mixed up with the Citation 200

  • Voted up. I have looked at these before but am always concerned about what the situation will be in a few years time - eg what happens if Harman decide to no longer support the product / pull the app? Do they become paper weights?

    • That's my concern too. I have 6 LG smart speakers which are now effectively expensive paperweights because LG stopped updating them and chromecast connection is very unreliable.

      • Yep - that sucks, manufacture obsolesce is a thing these days - these look like good speakers $180 for a stereo pair. But some reports of instability / glitches. I think I will stick with my 1900's stereo plugged in with a cable for a bit longer (man i feel old…)

      • Are these the LG music flow?.I bought several of them too and the Chromecast no longer functions for me at all. I can use them with Bluetooth which is ok. I wish they still made the Chromecast audio as that plugin would make these things future proofed. Can you still make the chromecast work at all?.any tips?

      • Depending on age you would return to the retail IMO under the cga. If retailers keep having that sort of problem, that may put pressure on the manufacturer. I got my igloo box refunded when sky stopped supporting it.

    • Pisses me off to no end that my HEOS soundbar requires an app that's extremely flakey in finding it (right now it's just not finding it, but it's permanently attached to my TV so I don't need to change) and requires a HEOS registration and won't connect without logging in.

Admittedly their app still works and it's like 10 years old or more, but I am at the mercy of that company for the device to work.

In its defense I got it free, but it had like a $1500RRP, I wouldn't ever buy one after experiencing the free one because of the app requirement.

All it needed was a single button to change modes, but nope. We've taken a step backwards by losing dedicated remotes.

  • I have MK2 and sound is pretty bad.

  • Online reviews quite good. I ordered 1 unit. For that very big discount - reasonable price level of $90, including shipping for the NEW units stock, I'm thinking is a fairly good deal. (New stock, so watch out your not ordering grade 1 , 2 refurbished etc
    stock in their website shop)

  • I got it last time when it was $50. Good sound quality. The only thing i dont like is that bass is a bit high for my taste, and there is no way you can adjust it.

    • Was it brand new or used?

  • I have two of these, both from TiC. First one I got was about $100. Got it working fairly easy.

The second was $50. That was a PITA to get working. Google Home would connect to the wifi spot it creates to allowing for pairing…and then would time out with an error message. I tried all sorts of permutations to get it connected to the network. Eventually I thought it might be something to do with Android Google Home getting confused at the other HK speaker in the network. So I used my partners iPhone Google Home app to connect it. Worked flawlessly.

  • With so many issues, are they even worth 50 bucks?

    • Issues with stuff like tends to always be the Google cast situation. It started well then the Sonos lawsuit did a number on their software stack. Last week they announced they are no longer supporting old Chromecast devices and no idea where that leaves these sort of speakers.

I've got a xiami one and Philips sound bar that works well, a jbl portable and sound bar that are fine, but a jbl playlist that has been a huge pain to the point of giving up with the thing. I love the idea of multi room casting on these things but just wary Google will be Google and rug pull the whole thing.

    • If they were selling them for $50 I would probably take a punt!

  • Ffor those who want to get the stand designed specifically to fit the Citation One models, (I'm presuming it fits all the models including this MK3 version?). Ok there is a trader in Auckland on Trademe who is selling the UK "SoundXtra" brand stands (grey or black colour options ?) for a very big discount at just "$29" each stand, + reasonable shipping options. These are metallic & designed and made in the UK , just under 3 feet high. I've ordered one, but not picked it up at postal address yet. :)

  • So - for those that got one (or two?) of these what are your impressions so far?

  • Seem to have vanished off the website today, but last night they were still up and it said about 58 in stock?
