Wow, that's a pretty good deal OP!
I'll get one to put on my switch.

    Thank you!

    • Hey! :) Do you believe is fast enough for the Nintendo Switch? I thought they needed to be UHS

      • It is an UHS-I card.
        From Amazon's page:
Up to 120MB/s transfer speeds let you move up to 1000 photos in a minute(5) | Up to 120MB/s read speed, engineered with proprietary technology to reach speeds beyond UHS-I 104MB/s, require compatible devices capable of reaching such speed. Write speeds lower. Based on internal testing; performance may be lower depending on host device, interface, usage conditions and other factors. 1MB=1,000,000 bytes. | (5)Based on internal testing on images with an average file size of 3.55MB (up to 3.7GB total) with USB 3.0 reader. Your results will vary based on host device, file attributes, and other factors.

        And according to Nintendo:
        High-speed microSD card recommendations:
UHS-I (Ultra High Speed Phase I) compatible
Transfer speed 60 - 95 MB/sec (the higher the transfer speed, the better gameplay experience on Nintendo Switch)

        • Oh apologies, I didn't see it written in the post so I thought it wan't a UHS…
This is nice! I'm getting one! :)

  • 400GB this size is odd

    • They just put 25x 16GB chips on that card, that's all. But yes, it seems odd at first.

I must be doing something wrong - I am getting a message saying:

'Sorry, this item can't be shipped to your selected address.'

    Or is it just me?

    • works fine for me in auckland

      • I'm in Auckland too - they are picking on me :-(

    • Does it let you add the item to your cart?

      • +1

No issues here with adding to cart or getting it shipped to rural Hamilton.

      • No problem putting in the cart, but when I try to move on towards paying / checkout, the above message comes up.

        • I have had it do this to me on a different occasion, even though the item shipped to NZ.
The item in this post works for me.

From memory it is to do with the default address details.
Make sure your street address is the ‘default address’, otherwise enter in your address again as a ‘new address’ and make it the default.

          • @bigcheese: Thanks - I'll give that a go.

            • @Alan6984: Did you manage to get it to work?

              • @bigcheese: No - still got the same message, but thank you for the suggestion.

The offer has ended now. Not too concerned as I am hopeful there will be good deals on these on Black Friday.

You know what I think… someone, who shall remain nameless, has moved across to the West Island, and is now working for Amazon!

                • @Alan6984: I think you might be right.
Looks like our nameless person even has their own brand of tools (making them no longer nameless!)

Funny how it combines their name and the word Torpedo.
You shouldn't be surprised though - it's apparently shock proof!

Keep in mind this card is only on a 13% discount. It's a low quality card, with read/write speeds of 120MB/s. No good for most modern devices except maybe for your mums phone so she can keep 5000 pictures she doesn't want to delete.

Far better off getting a 128mb card with significantly faster speeds.

    • +1

True, much better options out there for GoPros/modern phones, however this is perfect for a Nintendo Switch - it uses the same UHS-1 that the Switch uses, and the Switch maxes out at 90-100mbps read speed, which means it suits it perfectly.

      • This information is what I was after! I wanted it for my Nintendo Switch! Nice!!

    • What speed do you expect to see then, and what would actually have a requirement for that speed?

120MB/s for read & write is plenty good enough for the majority of users for the majority of use cases. I regularly backup 70GB of data on my phone, do a lot of SWAP partitioning on the memory cards and it is in constant read & write use, all day, every day. Works fine for dashcams and security cameras continuous recording, works fine on my Switch as well, basically everything in general.

      • As per the amazon details:

Up to 120MB/s read speed, engineered with proprietary technology to reach speeds beyond UHS-I 104MB/s, require compatible devices capable of reaching such speed. Write speeds lower. Based on internal testing; performance may be lower depending on host device, interface, usage conditions and other factors.

The 120MB/s is just boost speed. It's not sustained, and it's only the read speed. Writing to this appears to be closer to 40-50MBps looking at tests online. Real life read rates appear to be closer to 90-100MB/s sustained.

So, for example, if shooting in sports mode on a DSLR that has 50MB files at 5FPS, you need to be able to write 250MB/s to avoid maxing out the buffer to sustain that 5FPS (and 5FPS is a pretty low bar).

So, with your example, using this card to transfer 70GB would take you around 20 minutes at the real world write speeds in testing.

Card speeds can be quite confusing, especially as they advertise the max read speeds and not sustained speeds or write speeds as often. So this card is fine again, if you need it to store lots of small data that doesn't need to be accessed fast, e.g. photos on a phone. It's not going to work well for video, DSLR's (apart from single shot) or even moving data.

It's a 400GB card for very cheap. It's not going to have pro level read/write speeds. So as I stated, it's better for most people to get a 128 or 256GB card with significantly better speeds for virtually the same price than you get this if they need it to perform. All I've done is point out this card probably isn't suitable for all applications.
