Got the 5 pack back for the black Friday sales
Pretty happy with them to be fair

    • Do you need the subscription to use it?

      • +2

Looks like you can use it without a subscription, using the sync module and plugging a USB drive into it to store recordings.

        • I heard that it doesn’t record the clip if you are watching/answer the doorbell/camera without the subscription.
Normally those are the important ones that you might need. So wondering if they changed it or is it not that big of an issue.

      • +2

Nah. Got 1 month free previously and yeah it was good, but not worth the cost.
Just have a decent sized USB into the sync module and it works fine

    • How’s the battery life 6 months on?

      • Funny you mention.
Noticed last night one of the cameras aren't responding so will check when I get home.
6 months for 2 batteries though is good

      • Somewhat depends on usage / activity. I got about 6 months on eneloop batteries.

  • Last deal had the sync module with it. Does this one have it. If not, can we use it without sync module and without having to pay for subscription. Dont want to have another subscription

    • +1

Includes three Outdoor 4 cameras, one Sync Module 2 kit, two AA lithium metal batteries, one mounting kit, one USB cable, and one power adapter.

    • +1

Includes three Outdoor 4 cameras, one Sync Module 2, six AA lithium metal batteries, three mounting kits, one USB cable, and one power adaptor.

  • Is this a pricing error? As one camera costs 87.20 this three pack deal works out at $30 per camera +doorbell, the 5 pack costs 319.20 so $63 per camera!

    • Very similar to jb hifis deal for the same thing ($115) so i would say a wholesale discount/deal

If you don’t care about the doorbell, could price-match at Bunnings

    https://www.bunnings.co.nz/blink-outdoor-4-3-pack_p0663029?

  • Thanks OP. Just purchased one.

  • Am I right in thinking they don't come with rechargeable batteries.
Also unless you have subscription you can't view any video clips unless you are at home on the wifi as well, or it's just slower to view them?

    • +1

Just uses AA batteries. Up to you if you use rechargeable AA

    • +1

You can connect a usb drive to the sync module 2 to record videos and can be viewed when away from home, takes a few seconds to load the video but nothing unusual.

    • I use AA rechargeables on mine - they last for months. If i ever go away longer I will probably use the lithium ones.

  • I wonder what the performance/quality is like at night/dark?

    • +2

Decent enough to be honest. Happy to send you an example if you wanted?

      • +1

Its all good - thanks for the feedback though, was just being curious :)

YMMV but seems like the main complaints online are:

    • No Homebridge/Home Assistant support, so you’re forced to use their app
    • Poorer battery life than advertised (plus lithium battery replacement costs. The 2yr battery life is only on lithiums)
    • Unreliable performance, misses motion often, even significant movements aren’t recorded or detected
    • Very long delays (20s+) when viewing live video, lag on video doorbell
    • Limited functionality on free plan
    • It’s Amazon & cloud hosted, so data privacy may be a concern

I think if you have very low expectations or this is just your first foray into “security” cams it’s not too bad. But I wouldn’t use it for anything important like security around the house. Unreliable cheap smart home stuff always ends up annoying me the most.

    • There may be a delay, but it is dependent on your network speed. In the house on the same network is perhaps 2 to 5 seconds max? Out of the house it'd be max 10 seconds.
With the battery life, even 6 months like I have likely had on 1 set of batteries for the camera is fine

      • Have been watching some videos online as I'm interested in using these without the subscription and just storing the videos locally on a USB drive. In one video is said that if I get a motion notification and choose to watch that event live then it won't save that event to my local storage, so it's an either or kind of thing, you can either watch live in which case you won't have a recording OR let the camera record the event and watch it back after.

Do you know if this is correct? Can you watch live and record to local storage simultaneously?

        • As far as I know you can? But not tried it as I have turned off most of the notifications to be fair

I'm using 1.5v lithium rechargeable batteries from AliExpress and they've been working well.
Tested a few times just now away from home it takes on average about 5-6 seconds to view live feeds.
    Motion detection has been reliable.
I don't think there is another model that provides free local recordings this affordable.

    • 100% agreed
Very good value for the price

    • Hey there, did you have a recommended brand / store for these 1.5v lithium rechargeable batteries from AliExpress? I sometimes find trying to find 'the real deal' a bit of minefield in Aliexpress. I am using Panasonic eneloops - but the lower voltage sometimes causes problems.

      • +1

Not the commenter but I've heard Soshine are quite a reliable brand, without over inflated capacity claims, especially if you buy from the official store. These for example. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006258003224.html

3500mWh @1.5V would be around would make them around 2300mAh approximately similar to Eneloop but with the benefit of the higher voltage. Would not be as long as the normal Energizer Lithium which are around 3000-3500mAh (around 5000mWh).

Hi I got some batteries and a charger from the official Pujimax store

      • Thanks @felixfurtak and @kyogui! Much appreciated.

        • +2

A good local option is the XTAR 4300mWh from PBTech. https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/BATXTR0100/XTAR-AA-Lithium-… - it's actually cheaper than Aliexpress at the moment. $42 / 4pk are less than twice the price of Energizer primary cells.

They are rated at 2700mA but this is at 1.5V (~4Wh), better than Eneloop Pro that is 2500mAh @ ~1.2V (~3Wh). In many applications the voltage doesn't matter but the Blink cameras are fussy.

There's a great (highly technical) review of these cells here https://goughlui.com/2025/08/27/review-teardown-xtar-1-5v-aa….

It's pretty cool technology, the voltage converter slowly ramps down the voltage as the battery nears the end of its discharge which emulates a primary lithium/alkaline cell so you get some advance warning that the battery is about to run out. The earlier versions of these just dropped from 1.5V to 1.1V.

As with all these rechargeable 1.5V Lithium batteries you need to get the correct type of charger and definitely don't try and charge them with a NiMH Eneloop charger. You can get ones that have build in USB-c sockets for charging but these typically have lower capacity. PB also sell the XTAR L4 for $20

          • @felixfurtak: Thank you so much for this. Really helpful. Good to see there are still people out there willing to do the hard yards to review this!

    Thanks OP. Getting one now.

But OMFG - make sure you add it to your cart if buying online. I am one of three people currently waiting for 20+ mins because the site didn't actually say to don't this and we we are now arguing about getting the bonus item. One who paid with after pay has been told no (cause they can't refund it themselves).

**Did actually get mine. But they went though every excuse under the sun as to why it was my fault. And eventually just cancelled and refunded the online order abd I repurchased. Which took over 35min in the end).

    • Did yours come with a sync module? I see above comments saying it was in the description, but with the link down now I'm unsure if it was a mistake. Other sites aren't showing the module included.

      • Prob too late for you now, but yes. Otherwise I prob wouldn't bother since plans sucks, and my previous door camera kills SD cards pretty quickly due to the number of people who walk past and activate the recording (which I can now turn off since I have a camera to show the other side).

  • We had some of these and they were a bit of a nightmare. Mainly because they wouldn't detect motion. We swapped with another set and they did they same. The night vision wasn't great either, so we ended up getting a full refund and getting Eufy ones which have been good.

  • Bunnings have dropped their price and that link no longer works on the Noel Leeming site. I do wonder if it was a pricing error?

    • If you want the doorbell, try price match at JB

      • -1

JB's one does not have the Sync Module 2 included :(

      • I just went and bought from JB which includes sync module 2. Very happy so far and currently printing a range of alternative no drill mounts for all the cameras.

    • Hopefully not. They were selling it for $65 on Christmas last year.

I want to mount the doorbell to a metal door frame without screws, but the back of the doorbell has foam so not sure if adhesives will work. Anyone tried using adhesives or third party mount kits? If so could you please share your experience?

I forgot to include the add on bonus door bell to my order yesterday, just did online chat and customer rep was so kind that placed a separate free add on order for me :)

    Deal is back online

  • Ordered one

I would suggest splurging on the extra $16 mini2 camera, if for no other reason than you can use it as an internal bell for the door camera.

Power adapter's will also likely pay for themselves if you are putting one or more inside anyway. Though it appears that any USB C cable and adaptor will be fine. Which means that a cheap rechargeable external power bank will also keep it running just fine (waterproof it if ourside!)

And not news to anyone who actually reads instructions, but the extra wires are to connect to a built in doorbell system, and not a wifi antenna like I have been using my old units ones for!

And I'm looking into whether an external hard drive can be formatted so the sync unit sees it as a USB drive. But no luck yet. I suspect it might be possible with a SSD one (which I currently don't have)

    • Good suggestion re the mini 2 cameras. Not sure you would get much benefit from a HDD/SSD on the sync module? I have a 16GB thumb drive on for about 6 months / two cameras and it has used about 15% (and then it will overwrite when full i think?)

    • I just discovered that the motion detection doesn't work through glass, so indoor camera would only be useful as

      1) a doorbell
      2) a room monitor camera

Mounting camera inside a room and trying to use it to monitor outside basically doesn't work since the cameras use some sort of PIR sensor to detect motion that is interrupted by glass.

It can be mounted outside, but needs a waterproof usb-c connector which is $$$

  • perfect deal, just ordered.

  • Deal is over. Price of 3 pack of cameras has gone up $142

    • Ordered one at 11:45pm last night

  • Hi,

I’m wondering what the best way is to mount this Blink camera and door bell on a wall without drilling.

Would 3M VHB tape be strong enough and suitable for this purpose? If not, could you please recommend another type of adhesive tape or no-drill mounting option that would work well?

    Thank you.
