    Thanks for sharing.
The discount is getting thinner everytime.
Still waiting for the esim from Kogan, not sure why Mighty has it not the Kogan.

    • 40% is about as high as it gets for single plans. Their BOGOF deals are the only way to beat it. I imagine they still do ok even with the BOGOF deals so will continue to do them. Easy money really, just clip the ticket.

      • Mine is 48% Last black friday sale.

  • do you think there will still be a large plan deal again?
i'm still waiting for that :( because i missed the previous one

    • Normally I wait for Blackfriday or their Birthday BOGO offer as it’s half price and always been at the same time.

      • +1

Birthday one was I think 40% off large and XL last year

        • Starting to wonder if they'll offer a deal for the Large plan this time?

Last year 40% off was offered simultaneously for both Large and Extra Large 365 day plans from late May.

  • It mentions:
    Voucher Expires 31/10/25 and
    Activate this plan by 31/08/2025!

    I think it should be:
    Purchase before 31/08/2025
    Voucher Expires 31/10/25

    • It should read:
      Purchase by the 10/8/25
      Activate by the 31/10/25

      I've updated now.

Quick Q, what happens when you exceed your monthly limit?
I don't need the extra large, medium would probably suit my needs but wonder about going over.

    • +3

      You can’t.
Once you get to the monthly allowance of your allocated plan then you simply have no data until the next allowance rolls over.
You can buy more if you need it from Kogan but it’s expensive.
      https://koganmobile.co.nz/add-ons/data-add-ons/

If you have eSIM then you would probably be better buying additional data when you fall short from someone like Justboringtech

      • Thanks a bunch!
Will wait for the medium or large to go on sale before I try Kogan.

  • bogof birthday deal is usually around august right? We expire september so i'm hoping it's the same this year

    • The Kogan birthday is August but no guarantees of BOGOF.
Last year they did 40% off for the birthday offer, not BOGOF as they did the year before.

My kids have plans that also expire early September so I just went for the 40% this time from the recent offer.
I need to activate by 31st August but I figure it's close enough.

      • thanks, good idea

If nothing comes up in time you could always port out to another network for a month or two or even change to a monthly Kogan just in the interim.

          • @bigcheese: You've given me an idea.
Would like to try Kogan's network before switching to a year long plan so how about buying the 1.5GB $15 monthly plan, port to Kogan and use it up then if I like it and the BOGOF or 40-50% discount deal comes along, commit to the full year?
            Any holes in this plan?

Do I have to give 31-day notice immediately to start the cancellation process? Is there autorenewal of the monthly plan? Apologies, it's not very clear on the website.

            • +2

@strangercheapie: All Kogan plans are prepay so there is no requirement to give any notice if you want to cancel and move to another network once you're with them.
You will of course lose any credit remaining on the plan you are on. Not too bad if it's a monthly plan but costly if you have signed up for a 365 plan and there are a lot of days remaining.

If you are wanting to test it out then you may as well go for the new starter pack(kogan.com) - it's only $5 and gives you 15GB of data as well as the usual unlimited calls/txt to NZ and Oz used within NZ. Also comes with a free SIM card. After the first month this will renew at $35 per month but you can change it to the smaller plan for $15 if you wish. Just buy a voucher for the $15 plan and apply it to your account but remember any new plan will take effect immediately from when you apply the voucher so don't do it too early.
It will auto renew, as do all Kogan plans. Make sure you turn if off if you don't want to continue.

              • @bigcheese: Incredible! I didn't see that while perusing the website.
                Thank you.

                • +1

@strangercheapie: It’s not easy to find - it’s as if they don’t want you to know it’s there!
I have purchased this several times for use when family/friends are in NZ from overseas. It works well and is a cheap plan for a month. Should be perfect for you to test Kogan out.

                  • @bigcheese: That is sooo smart!
How come you can purchase it though? Isn't it one per new Kogan customer? They let you buy multiple starter pack?

                    • +2

@strangercheapie: You can buy multiple starter packs at a time - I usually buy two packs at once.
I do make sure to use a different email address and card number (Wise card disposable number) but always the same address to send the SIM card.

The phone number is not important for me - the packs are used primarily for data and a new phone number is fine for family as it’s only temporary. For our use we are not porting an existing phone number.

In your situation, if you are porting your phone number then you can only utilise this once.

                  • @bigcheese: Just want to say a big thank you to @bigcheese

Got the starter pack to test out, delivered 1 week after shipping (ordered Friday eve, shipped Monday), number porting happened overnight.

Feels noticabley faster, not sure if it's honeymon effect but yup, speeding away with 15GB to mess around with whilst I test the network and wait for a deal.

                    Chur!

              • @bigcheese: wow~~~~

  • Does anyone selling this plan please? Thanks
