The Samsung 65" S90D OLED is $50 cheaper ($2749) at most places including HN and is arguably a better OLED than the C4

    From RTings-
The Samsung S90D OLED is mostly better than the LG C4 OLED. The Samsung gets brighter in HDR, so bright highlights stand out more on it, and it maintains its HDR brightness better while in Game Mode. The Samsung TV also has a wider color gamut, better color volume, and better HDR gradient handling, so colors in HDR are more vibrant, lifelike, brighter, and have less banding. The Samsung has a wider viewing angle, and the image doesn't have a green tint that worsens as you move off-center, so it's the better choice for watching TV in a group setting. However, the LG supports Dolby Vision and DTS audio formats, so it's the better option for those looking to get the most out of their physical media.

I have s95d the tizen os is trash

      • I'm a fan of samsung, however samsung doesn't support Dolby Vision if that's important to you.

      • Don't know about other people, but that's the very least of my concerns when buying a tv. I'd guess I'm in the OS of my tv maybe 0.01% of the time, the other 99.99% I'm using my tv to watch stuff on.

I stayed at an Airbnb twice that had a small 40ish inch Panasonic "Smart" TV with all the usual apps you'd expect like YouTube, Netflix, etc.

It was SO laggy and slow and glitchy that it is memorable. User experience absolutely is important.

        • Hopping between apps you want to be fast and kinda smooth

          • +1

@Frisky Grandma: If you care more about how smooth the UI is to navigate over how good the picture quality is then I guess we've got different priorities when it comes to what we're looking for in a high end OLED tv. Each to their own.

            • @Flippant: The picture quality wouldn't be night and day between the two, the UI on the other hand..

              • @MMXIII: How many hours were you in the UI of your tv yesterday? Honest question. I just don't understand why people are so fixated on the UI of their tv to the point that they're prepared to pay more for a tv with worse picture performance because they don't like the UI of the other brand. I've been in the UI of my television for maybe 2 minutes this week, actually it's probably less than 1 minute. I turn on the tv, choose the app or input I want, and that's it. The only time I see the UI again is if I need to switch apps or inputs which takes all of 4 or 5 seconds. What are you people doing with your televisions that makes the UI so important to you?

And as for the picture differences not being night and day, that RTings review has a pretty long list of advantages the S90 has over the C4 when it comes to picture quality, and maybe I'm the weird one here, but when I'm buying a tv I want the best picture for my money.

                • @Flippant: I mean, I use an Nvidia Shield remote with a custom button to change the input on my Samsung TV purely because I can't do it easily from the Samsung remote. I have to hit the Home button and go through a myriad of button pushes just to switch.

So yeah the UI can be pretty important for different case uses, even for the simplest of tasks.

                • @Flippant: Enough to notice the crappy UI. I have a Samsung with Tizen OS and its actually terrible, and its been getting worse over time. And your second point isn't chalk and cheese like you seem to be making out. You think if you lined up both TV's side by side and had 100 people, they'd all go "OMG, the LG has the worst picture performance."

And no your not a weird one, you have standards and I can respect that. but some people are not that fussed because it won't be long before your TV hasn't got the best picture quality because the next best thing is always around the corner.

    • Lgs software isn’t great but Samsungs is atrocious.

I was a tv installer when they switched from it just being a bar along the bottom to the full screen, barely navigable mess that they now do. Imagine explaining that to your grandma

I went through 2 s95b's a few years back, went LG and will never go back to Samsung

      • What issues did you have? Mine is OK, apart from Tizen's obvious bad UI.

        • Both just died. Electrical faults apparently

  • Great TV, so bright I can use it outside in the day time.

  • Highly recommend this TV. Bought it a month ago for about the same price and it's great. There are youtube videos to calibrate it.

Picked this over the Samsung and Sony Bravia (way too spenny)

For those looking for a smaller tv, this 55” Samsung S90D is pretty good value at $1998 with bonus $199 gift card
