  • Are these good? Are they likely to be broken into easier than a key?

    • +3

A normal door lock is very easily bypassed if you know how, probably more easy than this. Now, if somebody was going to rob your house, they probably won't choose the front door anyway. So the question is: would you like to carry one less key?

  • Pretty decent, same price as the previously posted Cheapies deals. For $20 more you can get the keypad as well:

  • Can’t add to cart the bundle one

I still havent installed the one I bought 2 years ago deal

    • Haha Black Friday deal? Same here

    • I am having second thoughts now when reading the comments
I have a deadbolt and a Lock, This just engages the handle

  • Anyone managed to get the bundle to work I haven't had any luck either and it appears to have something to do with the keypad add-on choosing the colour to match, I'm wondering if they're actually out of stock of keypads?

Try to add to sets and then remove one

I have bought this before it's decent. The batteries are triple AAAs, last for about 2 years ish. Depends on how much you use.
Comes with 2 swipe mini tags, you can link with keypad i think retail is 99 dollars. You can set up on your phone app. You can give family members or friends the app and give access if theyre house siitting or need to pick up something from yours.
We had a break in not long after installing one, we were able to tell the police when the thief entered. Along with camera timestamps.

It shows when it was it was open, when closes, how it was open, who opened it with what method. You can sync to other devices like the window magnetic sensors.

For the price you get a basic electronic lock, its not the best but not the worst. Installation is a little tricky and might cost more than the lock if you get someone or if you do yourself set away 4 hrs to do it. If the battery does run out theres an option to use a usb c to plug into door from outside. Also, when you open the app to open the door it does take like 5 to 10 seconds just to load the big circle to click to open.

Happy to answer any questions related to lock, not affiliated 😅 just a user. For the price and userbility id give it a 7

    • A 7 for this lock. What would you give a standard door handle and lock?

      • Depends what type of door handle and lock. There some good and bad ones?

Wouldn't bother one of these they're quite complicated to install. Like all these smart locks, they don't actually lock they just disengage the handle unlike Eufy deadbolt which has a physical bolt that is electrically engaged. These locks are also not deadlocks, which means somebody can break through the window and carry your stuff out front door or back door. Eufy and Schlage for instance, are basically plug and play requiring no modifications to a standard door lock replacement. On our house, for instance, we have an aluminium door entrance and it has a double lock deadlock and when somebody tried to break in, they tried to Jemmy the door from the outside and failed and then went through a window. The alarm went off and they tried to escape through the deadlock but could only bend the handle and left back through the window without stealing anything..

    • I see most of the modern houses have one of these
      https://www.shopyalehome.co.nz/aanz-b2c-sydm3109

      Is that any better?

      • Yes, definitely more secure with double locks and more practical with the keypad but it may require a new door if you were going to try and retrofit.

        • The 3109 is not a deadlock, so once inside the house you can open the door by simply using the internal handle.

I guess all these locks depend on whether you prioritise convenience vs security

          • @Harebrainedkiwi: Yes thay all seam to be the same although the 3109 is a lot more secure from the outside than most smart locks.

    • Maybe I've misunderstood something but are you saying you don't have any doors in your house that can be opened without a key (or whatever you use to control access). If so are you sure this is compliant with the building code? My understanding is for a simple home you likely need at least one door which can be opened without a key for fire safety reasons. See e.g.

      https://www.building.govt.nz/assets/Uploads/building-code-co…
      https://simpli.govt.nz/coe-news-article/topic-5/article-193/…

If your house is old enough, it might technically be compliant since it's grandfathered in if you ever need a resource consent you might have problems similar to the way a lack of smoke alarms might technically be allowed if it's a very old house. You might want to double check on the situation if you ever take on tenants though.

      • We have four doors that access the outside, two of which have double locks and when inside they are single locked, which means you just have to lift lever and the doors open.

    • I have a Lockly Flex which is a deadbolt and i highlt recommend. It was cheap too.

      • Yes, a deadbolt is more secure than a standard smart door lock. I have a Schlage Ease Smart Entry Lock on my shed and when I leave for a few days, I use the deadlock as well. The main problem I have with fingerprint sensors is they don't work in a farming situation where your fingerprints can get quite scuffed and don't work on my smart phone for instance, so I prefer the keypad. The Lockly Flex ( $200 at the moment) also a simple installation like the Schlage and will just retrofit into a previous deadbolt or deadlock.

  • How come we cannot add the bundle with the keypads? anyone can help us?

    • I added the bundle then within Cart selected to edit the product. Selected the Update Cart button (without changing anything) and then message disappeared.

      • Thank you for replying, this message jumps up on the top of the page, before I could add it to the cart “Product that you are trying to add is not available”. So the cart actually hasn’t got anything in it (I couldn’t add to it).

        • Ah yes, sorry, keypad is genuinely Out of Stock now. It was a different message before. Hopefully more come in stock. Good luck!

          • @djb41: If anyone missed out on out of stock let me know, I bought with a keypad

  • Truly don't understand why it doesn't include either fingerprint or keypad. Sounds stupid that you have to carry something to unlock if you don't purchase the additional keypad.

  • check installation template if you have existing lock(s)
