This one has been around forever with Kogan - They just keep extending the expiry date.
The data/txt/calls in this pack can only be used in NZ.

  • Yep, just as bigcheese said, this is their standard offer. Good for when family from overseas come over.

Remember to cancel the plan before the 30 days are up.

Great for a duel Sim phone to boost your data for a month. Just disable auto renew. Use Gmail + or hide my email on Apple for new email addresses.

This is what I'm considering using this for, use the 15gb one month to bot use planned data and build up some rollover. Anyone actually using skinny you could then buy a second skinny sim card, port the kogan number to that for 8gb bonus data and use buddy rewards for another 4gb. Effectively the $4 profit in the buddy rewards would cover off your kogan costs and you'd get 15gn month 1 and 12gb month 2.

    • They don't check whether your credit card has been used multiple times for different accounts? If not, this seems like a great way to be on prepay. I had to pay like $20 to top up like 1GB with 2Degrees and their Data Clock rates suck. My new company hasn't given me the new work SIM yet and apparently it might take a while since they're transitioning to Spark. So I'd prob need to use this hack for a while.

I've use the same credit card for about 20 sims so far

        • Noice. Since I have a phone that supports dual SIM and I only really need data, this will do the trick nicely. People can still call me on my main number and I'll just pay $5 to get data every month on the throwaway SIM.

Do you know how fast they ship you the SIM? Think I might buy a couple of them in one go.

          • @NovaAlpha: those SIMs can either arrive slow or arrive fast, but mostly slow, so make sure you have plenty of time before voucher code expires. Also the last time I used Kogan, I can't disable auto renew in the app, so make sure you change or swap your credit card details before renewal date.

@The Hound: I don't use the app just use their site Kogan Mobile NZ and I load the sim then immediately disable auto renew. Yes the sim can be anything from a week to 3 weeks. I got a few free sims from them awhile back, so I don't rely on their delivery.

            • @The Hound: The option to disable auto renew is still there but it is not obvious and you need to know where to look.

Here is an example from the data usage page on the app.
If you click the three dots (shown circled) then you will see the option to Disable Auto Renew.
Once this is selected the renewal option is disabled.
You can tell this is done when the box indicating the option to 'Enable Auto-Renewal' appears in the centre of the page.

              • @bigcheese: Did that, disabled auto renew, app goes into processing mode for whole minute, I went back and still says Auto Renew. Will try it on a browser next time, as suggested by pdevonporf above

  • Normally international roaming packs need to be purchased to use overseas. Their website says what countries it works in

  • this is a normal deal, you just cant buy more than one at a time.

  • Have their annual prepaid plan and quite disappointed with their overseas roaming packs, was in AU and bought both data and text&call pack but they didn't work at work, had to find a local SIM card store without internet

    • I always buy local SIMs for better value. I got 100GB/month last time when I was on holiday.

  • I'm in Fiji currently, best to buy local sim but the best thing is I can use wifi calling to make and receive calls (with Kogan).

  • Tried using data in Australia and can confirm data/text/calling all don't work overseas.

  • Do they have eSim? Thanks.

    • +1

      No, not in NZ.
It is offered by Kogan Australia but not here.

  • How long do these normally take to arrive? Ordered some 2 weeks out from when I land in NZ.

    • +1

Snail mail usually arrive in 5 days or so

      • Thanks, Would it take longer to an address located in gore 9710. Rural I think.
