I'm tempted by this plan over the Kogan large plan for a low user. Could potentially switch to a $13 plan making it $6.50/28 days. Curious to know everyones thoughts.

  • $16 is the minimum

    • But it is a 28 day plan so after you purchase the $16 plan and get the credit you can switch to a cheaper one if you want. The difference is small regardless, half of 16 is still quite cheap.

  • Hi Bill. The maths in this one is a "double" night mare too !. Ok you seem to be comparing this to this to the Small Kogan 365 day plan. (So that would need to have included : "unlimited standard calls NZ and Aus. + 1.5gb data per month/ 28 day period. + A reasonable amount atleast of texts". Your calculations seem to say is that if you did it it a certain way with this One NZ offer we would end up with half of $13 per month , so $6.50 per 28 days, for a 365 day period. (?). Is that correct and plse show your maths as to how you got that result?. Thanks.

    • I'm comparing it to the Kogan mobile large plan at 50% off. I have someone on a $13 per month 2degrees plan. I am planning on switching them to a large kogan plan that gives them significantly more data for fractionally more cost. But in reality they are fine using the 2degrees plan and have no need for any more data. So under this deal, I could switch them to a myflex prepay plan that gives them similar amounts of data but for a lower price, the lowest you can make a myflex prepay plan is $13. If your credit is doubled, the plan costs half the amount. It's basically like getting a 50% discount on all the plans.

      • One option for them might be to shift to a larger 2 week plan on 2 degrees to get the carry over data applied then bouncing back down to the $8 monthly plan until they use it up. Even if they went for the highest 40gb plan at $34 it equates to under $11 a month for a total average of 3.4gb a month. It would be less micro management with just moving to a high plan and back once a year to top up the pool.

        • Oh right, I forgot about that! But at that point you're only saving like $2 a month compared to the Kogan plan. I'll just be moving them to the Kogan plan most likely.

  • +2

Main downside would be the need to micro-manage usage in order to avoid casual rates as you can easily blow through your bonus credit.

2degrees prepay Data Clock disables casual rate data and excess data on Kogan requires additional purchase.

    • Probably wouldn't be a problem for someone who is already used to a small data allowance plan. The person I know even has carryover data on a 600mb per month plan.
