  • what's the old price with csc discount?

  • +1
    • yeah this is probably a price drop. If not, just price match from PB like what I did when I got a set.

  • They had a fantastic pricing error a week or so ago when they were giving these away.

    • Good one did you got some?

      • They only had one in stock so got that for $0 and then the pack with the charger for $14.38. They figured it out pretty quickly though, luckily I managed to click and collect as the shop opened. Got back home to post on Cheapies and it was fixed and they'd cancelled my order for out of stock items.

For anyone interested in the Pro version ($19 via CSC) and the difference between the two:

The short answer: the Eneloop Pro battery has a higher capacity than the regular Eneloop with 2500mAh vs. 1900mAh. The Pro can be charged up to 500 times while the regular Eneloop up to 2100 times. The PRO batteries can provide more current than the regular Eneloops.

    • Have to ask for those with rechargeable batteries - has anyone ever got close to 500, let alone 2100 cycles of charging? That seems like it'd take 15 years with AA's.

If not, then the Pro's with a higher current discharge and more capacity seems like the better bet.

      • I've had several Eneloops in regular use since 2007 and charge them with a ISDT C4 charger which measures capacity.

No idea how many cycles they have done, but they have no measurable degradation after 15 years.

Pretty sure they'll outlast me and my kids will inherit them.

        • +1

Yes I agree with you but the kids are more the problem as they seem give these batteries to their mates when they go to stay and I never see the batteries again, it's more about degradation of my battery numbers.

    • Wish Pro was on the market for that price.

I got some Sanyo size D rechargeables when I was 17 years old. So they are still taking a good charge 53 years later! Came from Tricity House in Manchester St Christchurch. I remember fire engines going past when I bought them, because for a brief period the fire appliances from the central ChCh station were painted fluoro pink! (Or was it fluoro orange). An experiment that obviously failed!

  • I've been using these ones from trademe for years and they work great, 4700 mAh only 95c each. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/marketplace/electronics-photogra…

    • +1

Interesting you say that. I've got the same ones as a cheap option (don't mind losing / giving away etc)

The actual capacity is nowhere near what they have claimed (they weigh significangly less than my Eneloops which is a giveaway in itself) and I believe its not physically possible to have that much density in a AA form factor using Ni-MH.

They also seem to struggle with high drain devices (Eneloop Pros excell)

But again, I have these floating around as cheap options that I don't care about looking after such remotes, giving to people to get them started etc

      • +1

Yes the Chinese are the only manufacturers that can fit 20 L of water in a 10 L bucket.

    • +1

Absolutely no chance these are anywhere near 4700mAh.

I wouldn't go anywhere near these. You'll be luck to get 900mAh out of these and they will likely have awful self-discharge characteristics and won't be a patch on a good Eneloop.

Similar SDNMY branded batteries reviewed here https://danyk.cz/test_aku_en.html

      • +1

Yup based on my experience that seems true although i'd guess much lower than 900. Somewhere between 400 and 600 depending on the device in question (ie around 1/4 of my Eneloops)

But at that price, I leave them in wireless mice/keyboard, TV remotes etc. Basically anything that I don't want to waste good rechargables and that the charge lasting weeks insteads of months doesn't really matter

    • That capacity rating & price point is not plausible at all.

But still if whatever capacity they actually have meets your needs, they are very cheap :)

    • I use these batteries in everything such as my automatic opening rubbish bin, kids toys and remotes. I find they last very long, the ones in the bin need to be recharged every 3 months, the kids toys rarely need charging and I have never had to charge the ones in my remotes. I'm definitely sceptical of the mAh rating but I'd say it's not too far off as I used the energizer rechargeable batteries prior to this and the results are very similar. There are obviously better options out there but I dont think these can be beat price wise.

Would be interesting to know which are the best $/mAh in the cheap category. It's actually a good idea to have those cheap ones for tv remotes, clock, etc …

But now that I bought 6x4 Eneloop + existing stock … I kind of have too many lol !

    • For remotes etc probably best to go for those SupercheapAuto alkalines (when they go on sale or free credit promo)

      • Why not use rechargeable & do good for the environment?

        • Because… free!

          • @Alan6984: If it's on sale, you are still paying a bit. If using credit to get them, you can always use credit on something else. Just my thought.

Can't argue with free, but still.

            • @ace310: I always think so too, but I can never find anything that I want or need to spend the free credit on, so its either free batteries or let the credit expire.

          • @Alan6984: I was gonna say cheap, but free is even better lol. Plus my super old NiCD don't last long in remotes anymore.

            • @The Hound: I just got $10 credit from SCA (the survey thing from a couple of weeks ago) - expires on 2 Aug 2022.

Any suggestions on what I should do with my credit (!), or is it batteries again?

              • @Alan6984: Did you received an email? I logged in and its showing $0 :(

                • @The Hound: Hi Mr Hound,

Yes - I received an email, and I just logged in, and the $10 credit is showing for me.

Did you get an email too?

                  Alan.
