Eufy Wire-Free HD Security Cam with Home Base Kit $499 (RRP $800+) @ JB Hi-Fi

90

Surprisingly sharp pricing on this EufyCam kit. Not sure if its a pricing error for this version (or clearing old stock) given this normally retails for $750ish+.

Link to Eufy for specs (note this isnt the 2K version)

  • does this need a subscription

    • No. Eufy cameras don't need a subscription. They have local storage. You can subscribe to cloud storage if you want to, it is not required though.

  • Definitely not a pricing error, just clearing out old models.

  • Is it worth it, or better getting the newer models (2/2C/2C pro). Im really confused about their range.

    • +1

The equivalent new 1 year battery, 2K, battery backup homebase model is $450 more and there's no great picture quality improvement (I have both).2C pro 180day battery model does not have a battery backup homebase which records if the power goes off.

      • Thanks, I have a voucher with JB, so probably should pull the trigger.

      • Can you add 2k camera to this battery backup homebase?

      • Is Eufy Cam 2 newer than this model? Found Amazon sells Eufy Cam 2 cheaper, at 460 NZD including shipping.

        • +1

it’s the same model but No battery backup on home base on that model.

  • +1

l have added a 2 k to my standard 1080 setup (the no battery homebass)

  • Still on the fence between this one and the Arlo's. Would anyone know how many cameras can one Homebase support?

    • +2

Just remember with Arlo you're on the subscription train. Eufy up to 16 cameras which includes security switches and front door bell, iight sensors etc

  • any major difference between this any supercheap's one also for $499? I see it's lower battery life but can do two way communication (for doorbell etc)?

    • No homebase battery and 180day batteries on cameras. You might as well buy the new model it's around the same price.

  • People complaining about weak wireless link to the cameras and some delay connecting to the camera from smartphone. Is it the case? Or better to go with wired options like swan?

    • If you can go wired, go wired.

    • +1

Ive got the Eufy 2c system, with cameras about 15-20m away from the Homebase unit (through brick walls etc) and havent had issues.
Notifications are usually within a couple of seconds, and if I want to view the camera live, again, 3-4 seconds to connect to the livestream. Thats okay in my opinion, for a wireless camera like this. But as @justaddwater said, if you can go wired do so if this is going to be an issue for you.

    • Any delay is likely the app and not wireless vs wired IMO. I helped setup a swan setup recently, had to connect a monitor to it just to get it working. The cabling was oldschool too with data and power separate. If I was going wired i'd go at least IP cameras or whatever runs on POE over network cables. I run Hikvision IP cams, but if doing it again would likely go Eufy due to ease. Know many people who use Eufy and love it.

Does not have battery back up in the homebase, and shorter 180 day battery life. Does have night vision and superior night capture. Im leaning towards this one..

    • They all have night vision; camera has picked up a few strange people at night looking straight into the camera like possums attracted to the headlights of a car (videos are with the local police). I would go for the pro ,180 is plenty if you have easy access. I get 8months out of my 2c. The one-year battery is good for a batch where you might not get to it for months and if you like monitoring everyday it can use a lot of battery. I also use a ups power supply.

    • You can easily attach solar to almost get unlimited battery. So if it was me, I would rather go with better camera rather than bigger battery. 2c pro is better.

    • Looks to be $598.99 unless I'm missing something?
