This is what I got from their Live Chat: The offers are based on the spend pattern of the card and they can be enrolled only if it shows in the Amex offer section in the main home page. Sometimes there may be offers that are available for you and they may be unavailable for others. Also there may be times. you may receive the offer after few days as they are added in batches.

Just called. The agent said that all offers are managed by their marketing team. They won't be able to do anything manually if I'm not eligible.

  • I dont know where this Amex offer section is that they are referring to

How did you hear about this originally? Would be great to get the offer code.

  • is there a link to the offer

  • +2

I chatted and was told it's not possible to add offers. I was also told that calling would get me the same answer. Going to try that next….

    • I called and the guy was super friendly and added them for me immediately!

  • +3

    OP a bit aggressive…

    • +2

Sorry about that - I've exhausted almost all channels trying to get this offer for myself, and if you aren't directly eligible, the only way is to call and get someone who'll do it manually. If it helps, think of it as me trying to help you get the offer, that's all! No aggression meant.

  • +2

I called the customer service if he could manually add it. Sadly, they said No because it is a targeted offer.

  • +2

I called, and whilst the customer service was stellar, there wasn't any ability for this to be added to my card. They did explain from time to time offers will be emailed or shown when I'm in the app, or on the website. Sometimes these are targeted, and sometimes they're not, allowing a card holder the ability to share a link which prompts you to enter your personal card details.

I feel sorry for OP. He/she was just trying to help people to get the offer. Probably doesn't deserve a down vote?

    • +2

Aww thanks! Yeah I'm just trying to help others access the offer. Having to call again and again seems like a real pain - but it's what I had to do and I eventually got to someone who was happy to manually add my card. And live chat doesn't work; they told me to call AmEx anyway. This offer is great; I'm trying what I can to help others add the offer too even though they may not technically be automatically eligible. The discount is always welcome.

      Thank you!

Thanks again. You pretty much saved me $130 🙏

Hello everyone! I've just been in touch with Amex over the phone - the offer expires on 24 January 2022. It's only available in-store.

I should also say that I'm just reiterating the need to call as I'd love for everyone to be able to take advantage of this offer - and even though I wasn't eligible, they were still able to add my card. Sorry if you didn't get the same experience - maybe trying again and talking to someone else will yield a better outcome?

    Thanks!

    All the best,
    thil12

    • Do you remember the agent's name?

      • I'm really sorry, I don't remember the agent's name.

        Thanks.

        • All good mate. I probably won't try again as the chance to get someone who can manually add the card is very slight. But still appreciate your post.

          • @xsolider: No problem! I'm sorry that they couldn't add the offer to your Card; it is interesting that they could add it to my Card even though they said that I wasn't eligible.

            Thanks.

  • Thanks OP for posting this. I called Amex about the $50 cash back for online grocery shopping promotion. I have one charge card which got the grocery promotion but not on my platinum card. The agent Mark found the promo under my platinum card and added it for me.

Then I asked if he can look up for the BP promo, he did found them on both cards and added them for me. So total of $50+$40+$40=$130 cash back for just calling them to check. Only took me 10 minutes. I encourage all Amex cardholders to check, maybe they are sitting under your account already.

    • I called them yesterday. What I was told was to log into the web portal and check if there are any available offers listed on the home page. So basically you don't need to call them if you just want to check your eligibility for any particular offer.

      • For NZ Cards, this is unfortunately not true. In other countries (like Australia), you can check offers online but here, they send you an email or you need to call them.

        Thanks.

Just called them and worked for me thanks OP! They tried to get me to check online offers page but it doesn't exist for NZ.

Thank you and OP. I called again three times and the last agent was finally able to add the offer to my card! I'd get my wife to call them as well. Given that I've now enrolled, it should be easier for her to get enrolled.

      • Happy to hear this! Good that you got there in the end.

        • My wife just called them. I explained what I had this afternoon so they added the offer to my wife's card straight away without even reading the T&C this time.

  • Does anyone know when does this offer end please? Nothing in my email.

  • Just got the offer now in my email

  • Are gift cards eligible? (I don't know how amex would know as all they will see is the an amount spent at BP)

Thinking of buying the gift card then loading it on my wifes BP coffee card account

  • Also just got this offer now via email

  • I am getting this offer via email today

Came in via email. It is a targeted offer as no submit button.

  • As others have said I got this offer via email today

  • Yes, just got email for my platinum card but not the charge card.

    • Same as me here. Must be batches sent

  • No more signups

"Unfortunately the maximum number of Card Members have already enroled in this offer. Please visit http://www.americanexpress.com/nz/ for other fabulous offers.
    "

  • Anyone had luck buying a gift card at BP for this offer?

    • Yes

      • Great thanks! Did you buy a $70 BP Gift card? That’s my plan for tomorrow.

        • +1

First time I went, the teller was going to do 2 transactions, one $20, one $50 as she said they can't do $70 gift card. So I left and went to another BP. I told them I want to buy $70 gift card, he asked me to pay first, then he swiped the gift card and added $70 ($20+$50 in one go). Make sure the BP you go accepts Amex and the teller knows the correct way to do it.
