nice first post OP, just normally add the @ 1day on the end of the title is the only thing i would recommend.
    Code XMASGOLD20 gives $10 off (https://www.cheapies.nz/node/25494)

    • Thanks for the advice!

    Interesting find.

Thought this was some bondage gear when I first skimmed the image.

    • +12

yeah i sometimes get my tabs mixed up too

      • Haha

  • so is this like psvr quality or less?

    • +1

PsVr is oled but images are blurry due to low resolution (I have had one before)
This has a much higher resolution but it's IPS.

I looked at some YouTube reviews and professional reviews, and it's in the same ballpark as the Oculus Rift and the Vive — that's in the $500+ range of gear.

This price is weirdly low, and I wonder if they've accidentally listed the wrong title and perhaps it should be showing as a single replacement handset or something.

      • I looked at the deal and it lists that it comes with everything. Weirdly low price. Could be a good xmas present!

      • yea looked around, lenvovo discontinued it so maybe thats why?

eh $85 with 12 month warranty

jumped in, see what happens i guess lol

      • I bought my Rift CV1 and controllers at release for about $1500. According to Trademe they're now worth about $230.

    • A bit late but in terms of pure specs, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_virtual_reality_…

I think the weakest aspects of this headset may be the IPD adjustment and tracking system. Still at $89/79 it was a good deal to get into VR if your computer can handle it

How much money have I wasted on this website smh…

Anyways bought one, let’s see how good it is lmao

  • how much do these usually go for?

    • Noel Leeming sold it for $899.00 when it was avaliable

      • jeez depreciated heaps

        • +1

With the Quest 2 priced at NZ$569 direct from Facebook, I imagine expensive headsets are going to struggle unless they're a lot better. Obviously there's the big Facebook account/real name issue, but I'm fairly sure enough people don't care so the Quest 2 would be what they're competing with. Sure the USB streaming and compression is not as good as DisplayPort/HDM so that's a negative for the Quest 2 (assuming we're talking about PC gaming) but I think for many it won't be enough to convince them to pay a lot more.

    • Lenovo were clearing them out in the us for 200USD, two years ago.

  • nice op! cheers

  • Think it's sold out now, I must have got one of the last ones

    • Likewise. I got one about 25 minutes ago. Seems like a great deal for an outdated but still usable vr headset.

    • Wonder how much stock they started with? I find it funny that this deal was possibly around since noon but sold out within about an hour of posting here

      • 8-9 day turnaround so they could be drop shipping

  • To play games I assume you'll need a decent gaming PC.

    • System Requirements
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 with Redstone 2 Update(Fall Creator’s update)
CPU: 7th gen Intel Core i5/i7 or AMD FX or Ryzen 5/7
GPU: Integrated Intel HD Graphics 620 or DX12-capable discrete GPU
      Memory: 8GB or more
Ports: Minimum 1 available HDMI output, 1 available USB 3.0

    • You need to meet the minimum requirements for the games you want to run.

You also need HDMI 2.0 to run at 90Mhz refresh rate otherwise it will run at 60Mhz on HDMI 1.4

      • Yes. It appears my graphics card will not run the latest and greatest games but will play some older titles fine.

  • Bummer missed out :(

  • Showing sold out now

  • Now just wait for these to hit TradeMe

  • Where's Monk. He posted a deal on this product 2 years ago

  • Jesus this was amazing deal considering what is included:
    x2 Motion controllers included
2 Motion Tracking Camera, P Sensor, Gyroscope, Accelerometer, Magnetometer

    • Yeah I contemplated too long about it and now it's too late to get it :(

  • How do I mark this as sold out now?

    • +1

Should be an expire button at bottom of post with option for out of stock

      • Thanks! Found it

  • NOTE: You need bluetooth 4.0 to use the controllers. There is NO BLUETOOTH DONGLE included. So if your computer doesn't already have bluetooth you will have to do some additional shopping.

    • Those who don't have BT 4.0, I can take them off you for the cost :P.( A True Cheapie).

      • +1

lol bluetooth dongles only cost $10-20

        • Shhhh… :D

  • Damn. Missed this :(. I bought these from Amazon a few years ago for about $300, sold for $450 6 months later. They were the best entry level windows MR headsets available. Second to the Samsung O+ now for WMR.

  • If anyone got one but doesn't want it, I'll take it off your hands

    • +1 :D

    • +1

My wife said we didnt need one yesterday (which is technically true) but now she is complaining they are sold out. Apparently she was going to get me one for Xmas. Doh!

      • I thought you were going to offer the one you bought, Doh! :)

        • +1

Sorry to get your hopes up Banto :)

      • +3

OP didn't even get the deal. Wish I got two so I could give you one.

        • Thanks bro. Its all good. The wife made a compelling argument as to why we didnt need it. I have enough stuff that does not get used anyway.

    • Ditto for me too please.

I see they were limited to FOUR per order, so hopefully someone on here will be kind and on-sell at cost.

There's a good video to watch if you want to see how well this cheap vr headset goes against the Valve Index (a $1200+ VR headset that you can probably never buy in NewZ or Au)

Also, the VR controllers (which emits visible light for the constellation and connects via Bluetooth 4.0) eats batteries for breakfast, lunch, tea time and dinner. It's a good idea to get some NIMH rechargeable batteries as you will require 2 cells per controller.

  • Handy hint,
add a headstrap to the hmd, I have had one for a couple of years, the most comfortable headset out there if you add a headstrap.. so light…

I also have a reverb G2 and it is not comfortable at all compared to the lenovo.

    • by head strap do you men one that goes over the top through the center?

  • Damn this is a good deal, disappointed I missed it sonehow, I keep thinking about vr but $500 is just too much for how much I'd use it, this would have been a great price to test the water.

  • any one hear back from them?

    • Nope, still trying to get them off the ships I guess haha

      • Hopefully comes before Xmas 😬

        • +2

Just got in touch with them, they're shipping them out and they'll be delivered Monday at the latest :)

    • hopefully they will dispatch this week, according to the shipping deadline
omg can't wait to play half life alyx

      • Just got in touch with them, they're shipping them out and they'll be delivered Monday at the latest :)

  • Just got the shipping notification. Looks like this one's legit, what games are worth buying?

  • This is just a quick email to let you know that your Lenovo Explorer Mixed Reality Headset w 2 Motion Controllers has now been dispatched.

  • Have not received a shipping notification, hopefully tomorrow

  • Only just shipped and it looks like two have popped up on trademe today already. Both asking $250, so sucks for those who missed out in this deal :/

Don't like it either, especially as someone who didn't even get one. They should at least be honest about what they're doing i.e. I bought it for $89 or whatever, that's why it that 'cheap'. Hopefully at least they are only selling up to 4 (the buy limit for one order)
