Thank you mxchael, just sign up with your referral link, you deserve the $5 bonus… thank you

It's good to know they have a referral system, but I hope that this edit war of Mxchael repeatedly adding back their referral code after it being removed has at least got them a warning for a ban for not reading the rules.

    • hey now, i'm just trying to get the word out. When I added this there was no option to add a sharesies referral.

      • just wanted to thank you for sharing.

    • Yea this referral has a separate option to use the OP's link, whereas most are just all random. Really no need to spam codes.

      • OP's referral link shows up if the deal makes the front page (e.g. it is popular). This applies to all deals (e.g. Uber Eats).

  • Just beware of fee using this website. Portfolio under $50 is free + whatever fund manager charge. See https://intercom.help/sharesies/articles/813634-fees?

"beware of fee" ??? I've been using sharesies for a couple of years now and the $1.50 per month subscription fee for unlimited investments and withdrawals is a tiny amount to pay compared to the return you get (if you're smart) I haven't used any other investment site but I think sharesies model is great

I started with Sharesies, but ended up going to InvestNow - they don't charge any fees, and much wider range of investments available.

        • Yep. Opened a kid's account with InvestNow as well - no ongoing fee. Not as pretty as Sharesies and there is no InvestNow app, but my baby doesn't have a smartphone (yet) so having to log into InvestNow using a website isn't a big deal.
If people wanted to dabble in buying individual stocks (as opposed to ETFs/managed funds that Sharesies/Investnow offer), Hatch is a neat little option.

      • Nothing wrong with the fee sharesies charge. It just wasn't upfront when I sign up.

      • Like mattk I use InvestNow as well. I find it better than sharesies. Worth a look if you haven't already.

investnow offers pretty much the exact same thing but is free and with more choices.

Sharesies is good for starting out though as it's probably more user friendly and with nicer designs. But the investment offers are more a "set and forget" type, where you rarely have to log in, rather than for day trading so the interface isn't crucial for me.

          Is that sharesies or investnow?

          • @justaddwater: Both. They're usually for mid to long term investments and basically what your kiwisaver providers invest in- ie you're not supposed to log in regularly to change stuff (well you're better off to just leave it alone anyway)

  • Thanks. My address couldn't be verified, so have to upload a document within 7 days confirming, not sure if that's common. But apart from got my $10.

  • So I sign up. Take the $10
I sign up my wife, she takes out the $10 and I get $5.

$25 all up. And can cancel anytime?

    • Yup. Cancel any time. No fees till you're over $50 then its $1.50 a month.

Thank you, try to withdraw, but this message showing….

You have a Gift balance of $10.00 that must be invested before you can withdraw it.

since there is not fee under 50, I have top up, and invest in funds

Can anyone please share which funds has best return ?

        • NZ Bond

  • Well - I'm going to guess that I won't be cashing out and probably end up putting money in.

  • appreciate this have signed up and free $5 for you as well.

  • So click a referral link and signup
I'll get $10 total and referrer gets $5?

Won't validate my drivers license :(

    • Yes. You get $10 to invest but you can withdraw to bank if you don't wanna invest. The referrer gets $5 credit.

Strange that it doesn't validate your license? Haven't seen an issue before. What happened?

    • I had perhaps the same problem and i had gotten my drivers licence version wrong, changed it and it went through.

  • Sharesies will start offering trading on individual NZX-listed stocks shortly - pricing still to be announced, but hopefully will give ASB Securities some competition.
