      Yeah retailers are only making 10-15% on smartphones. Apple stuff is more like 5%. Samsung will be subsidising the deal.

      Yes but TradeMe will be flooded with these and the price will be lower. There are still S10e's on TradeMe from last month's PB Tech deal.

      When Pb tech did the buy 1 get 1 free S10e deal. The S10e were going cheap on trademe and they are not easy to sell off. They all sold for around $800. I assume itd be the same with the S10 from this deal as most of them will probably all end up on trademe at the same time.
      If u are buying the phone just for the sole purpose of reselling it and gaining a "profit" then it is probably not worth your time.
      But if you actually want/need a new phone then this is a great deal since selling the other phone off for a reduced price means both parties end up getting something cheaper than they would have actually had to pay.

        Haha settle down. I only got an email from them 45 minutes ago stating 800 nationwide which is a couple of hours after posting my comment, and all there website says is "Strictly limited Stock".

        Plus If you read my comment, I said "IF it is very low stock online…" Prior to knowing any figures.

        The big question is, is the 800 including the free one. So it only applies to the first 400 customers? Or is it 800 free units. It is confusion. Also it says, buy 1., get 1 free. But if you buy the s10+ you don't get another s10+ free, you only get the s10 free which isn't as valuable.

    Don't these top models usually drop down in price significantly from the launch price over time anyway? But it does look very good deal, especially compared to iphones. I am an ios user and tempted by this as only on a 6s, and new iphone models are just far too much, but have an apple watch. However my last S model android phone S4, was not a great experience, and the apps I didn't find to be as good as ios versions.

        Well I missed out at 9am too. I wonder how many other people actually purchased it or added to cart before 9am like I did, and how Noel Lemming will handle those situations? Surely it was a really really bad idea to even allow people to buy it or add it to the cart before 9am. A recipe for confusion and complaints and disappointed customers (especially if they do only send one phone out to some people who thought they had got two).

          They'll probably tell people to return it back if they haven't opened it. I mean it does say starting at 9am… so its well within their rights to deny a free phone to anyone who ended up buying it before that time. They did say there were 800 units but it seemed more like 80 units from the rate it got sold out. I guess we'll never know unless people investigate it or see a few hundred units of s10 on Trademe =/

          Why is it a bad idea to let people buy something before a deal starts? It said 9am last night when I looked, so buying it or adding to cart before then is never going to work out.

            @Fragluton: No, they didn't have the actual item/sku listed last night.

            Then at midnight they added the item but had it set to sold out, so you couldn't buy it.

            Then sometime between 5:30am and 7am they got rid of the sold out bit and put on the buy now button. I am also adament the wording was different (not saying 9am on the actual item description deal info bit). That is why I bought it then as I thought they had accidentally listed it early. I note the stock counter was disappearing fast too, so I definitely was not alone.

            It was only after I had ordered it and got the confirmation email I remembered about people on here saying the free one should have show up in the cart as well which made me relook at it. At that point I checked the item description online again
            and saw they had added the 9am bit into the item description. Also stock levels were green/reset. I rang up and the person I talked to seemed confused, but we ended up agreeing to cancel it as I didn't want to take the chance of paying full price for one phone.

            Basically NL staff were chopping and changing things online. They should have not had any item listed (just a promo page) and just put them up at 9am. But hey, thats life. I just hope there arent people who end up having the disappointment of having just one phone arrive.

      Their deal timer is terrible (sometimes)

      Its how I got 2x $300 ($600 total) headphones for $150, thier website timer had buy on get one free, but the morning my brother went to buy the headphones it also ticked over the new deal of the week of 50% off.

      Store staff basically combined the two deals coz it was valid which meant we scored them for $75 each.

      I tried to get a set as well but by 9.20am the old deal dropped off.

      it was "sold out online" after only 20 seconds in my case… then the message changed to an error then finally it says sold out online but available in store… so I suspect it was a bit dodgy to start with maybe only a few units available online.

    Went to local store before opening and was a line, but when I went up to line up there was a Noel Leeming guy outside, saying it was already sold out due to numbers in line, some had been there for over an hour.

    Tried my luck online, managed to add to cart in time, but website crashed and even though it was still in my cart, couldn't proceed to checkout saying it had sold out.

      Well its not like PB site hasnt died before when huge deals like this happen. When Xiaomi first opened and had all those nice deals online, it was the same issue where people couldnt load pages/check out and that site was managed by PB.
      PB was only able to handle the buy 1 get 1 free that day for the S10E because not many people knew about it and it was on a weekday where people were still at work.
      Noel sent out an email the night before the sale for everyone to know about this deal.
      Though it does seem pretty dodgy that no one here at cheapies were able to grab an s10 given that most of us had the s10 in cart already at 9am and couldnt check out until it was already sold out.

        PB have a time feature for all their sale items. So if its in your cart you get 30 minutes to purchase.
        I find this to be beneficial.
        Not to mention Noel Leeming are the worst when it comes to CGA and warranty claims.

          lol When i bought my s10+ from PB tech in the previous deal. The screen was defective out of the box and I realised about it after a week since it wasnt being used. Samsung phones all have a 2 weeks replacement period if there is anything wrong with the phone and PB Tech gave me a run around to get the phone replaced. Took me around 3-4 hours running around auckland just to have it replaced because those guys there wouldnt replace it for me. The phone was still sealed with the original protection tape and stuff but the guys at PB insisted that I dropped the phone myself and that it was physical damage when it looks perfectly fine. I actually ended up driving to samsung myself and got the guys over there to prove for me that it wasnt physical damage, even after all that, the guys at PB were still very reluctant to replace it for me.

      The deal went live at 8:59 by my clock, i got through to the checking out screen but the site crashed, kicking me back to the main cart.
      It seemed like you had about 30 seconds tops to check for the free SKU, hit checkout and go through the process before it fell over.

      A small number of people got them standing in line at stores from what I hear.

    I had one in my cart and was refreshing, and a "Samsung Galaxy S10 128GB Black Promo SKU" appeared with a note "Giveaway SKU. Not valid for Buy 1 Get 1 Free Deal." Originally the promo one was no cost but it stayed in cart and updated to $1499 so total price $2998. Still couldn't check out either way.

    So I had the phone in the cart, went to checkout, put in my CC number and paid. Then NL website crashed, funds are gone from my bank account, nothing shows up in my purchases on the site. Kept calling them but the number is always busy.

      That just means there is stock for the phone but doesnt mean theres stock for a free bonus phone. You would have to actually call the store now to confirm if they still are offering the free s10 with the remaining stock at their store since each store were only allocated a certain amount of the free bonus s10 and most of the stores have sold out on the free bonus phone.

    Just an update that I didn't originally have the free phone in my order (and cart) when I'd ordered it online (at 9AM on the dot), and I'd called NL to get them to look at it. They said they'd let me know on Monday (today), and I was sent an email saying that the second phone was ordered for me for no charge.

      I'm in similar situation. I didn't have the second phone in my cart when I placed the order too. But I got two separate emails for the phones being dispatched from nz post. Hoping they will arrive today.
