  • Saw that coupon on RetailMeNot a week ago and it didn't work for me. Where did you find it? Might be targeted.

    • Working for me, but no discount on anything, just the $5 off delivery.

        Same here. Think the FRIDGE coupon is still valid so this isn't such a good deal.

        • Have tried calling about the 10% off as they emailed the offer directly to me but cant get through, will try again soon

        • @qwerty: Does it actually work for you?

        • +1

          @ClipIt: Not currently but normally countdown are pretty good so should be fixed soon, have emailed them about it. Also FRIDGE has expired unfortunately

          @qwerty: I received an email about it too

          @ClipIt:

          The 10% discount off fresh meat, fruit and veggies now works :)

  • So I see that AA Smartfuel with countdown, you can accumulate discounts but they have capped it at 6cents maximum per week. That's a bit of a shame, what happens when they have 30cents off for spending x amount? Is that discount separate from your accumulated discount?

    • I'm assuming that the 6c with $200 spend is the standard weekly deal, with the larger discounts available every now and then as accumulated credit. Can't confirm that, but have to wait and see.

      • Ahh makes sense, so that is probably the standard but during offers it is increased, which could make quite a positive difference to the accumulated fuel discount.

        • Yea, will be interesting to see how it goes. I know that I won't be getting many, if any, bonuses from Countdown, barely spend $100 a week total, let alone at one store.

  • There's some handy videos here explaining how the new Onecard works.

    With the new Onecard you choose either Reward Vouchers or AA Smartfuel discounts as your reward.

    Firstly, you will not get the usual paper fuel dockets anymore when you swipe your Onecard. If you choose AA Smartfuel discounts, the new fuel offer is 3c off per litre, when you spend an accumulated $100 at Countdown in one week. The maximum fuel discount you can receive from Countdown in a single week is 6c off per litre. These discounts are loaded onto your card. If you choose to earn Onecard points, you don't get a fuel docket.

    If Countdown run a larger than normal fuel offer, like 30 or 40 cents off per litre when you spend a certain amount, then all customers get the offer. If you're not a Onecard customer, you get a fuel docket as usual. If you earn Onecard points, you will receive your Onecard points and a fuel docket to redeem at BP or Caltex - this cannot be added to any other discounts (e.g. AA Smartfuel's 6c off per litre when you spend $40 on fuel at BP or Caltex). If you earn AA Smartfuel discounts, the fuel offer discount is loaded onto your card plus you get the normal fuel offer of 3c/6c off per litre. You'll also get the 6c off per litre when you spend $40 on fuel at BP or Caltex. Using a 30 cents per litre off fuel offer as an example, by the time you come to redeem your discount by fueling your vehicle, you will have at least a 39 cents off per litre discount on your card. This could be a higher discount if you get the maximum 6c off per litre in a single week from Countdown, if you fuel up on a AA Smartfuel discount day (e.g. 10c off per litre when you spend $40 on fuel), you have a previous balance on your card or the fuel offer from Countdown is larger.

    Shaw might be better off with Rewards Vouchers if he can accumulate 200 points in six months (Onecard points expire six months after earning them). 200 points earns a $15 Reward Voucher. Onecard Rewards Vouchers are mailed at the end of February, May, August and November. Once you receive a voucher, it's valid for 12 months.
