I'd say that they are trying to eventually drag that number back down to a level they are comfortable with, around the 6c mark, that BP/Caltex/AA offer everyday. Seems to be how they work, being the leaders of change (Higher prices, lower discounts, etc.).
Yeah Z is crap like this. I generally avoid them. Caltex or Mobil, followed by Gull is the preference.
If you collect fly buys - the difference between this an 10c/L is not that different, especially for smaller fills (they are about equal at 40L). If you don't collect fly buys than this is worse by $1.20 on a 40L fill.
Was pleasantly surprised to receive 10c off per litre when filling up today (min. $40) at Caltex Springs Rd, East Tamaki using AA Smartfuel card. Checked everywhere and cannot seem to find any specials going on at the moment, so not sure whats going on there. The bonus at this station is that 91 octane is $1.689, and everywhere else seems to be around the $1.729 price point…
Really Z, why not do a competitive discount. Every Friday BP or caltex has 10c off and I have a zillion 8c off at Mobil vouchers from New World / Paknsave
