City Rail Link first look tickets are available at https://crl.iticket.co.nz/ - each station is releasing tickets one week before the event.
It doesn't look like there's been a mad rush on them, with plenty available for this weekend.

A couple of giveaways to line up with this:

Golden Ticket Giveaway

Public transport is free with your event ticket, and everyone goes in the draw to win a KiwiRail Great Journeys ‘Golden Ticket’ return journey for two adults on any scenic train – there is one golden ticket up for grabs at every session.

UPTOWN Platinum HOP giveaway

From August 8th visit an Uptown store, cafe or restaurant.
Look for the counter card, scan the QR code, or enter the web address, and complete the online entry form.

  I want to go to this, but the irony is that you'd have to drive in to do so and suffer Auckland CBD parking.

      I don't know, are they? It doesn't say that on the link. I'm also looking at the FAQs and there's no indication of that.

      That being said I just looked up Google Maps for the time.
      Drive time Glenfield to Eden Terrace: 22 minutes

      Fastest Public Transport:
      Two buses
      58 minutes total
      24 minutes walking

      Who needs time when you have Auckland Transport, more stations on the CRL to the Shore and the rest of Auckland can't come fast enough.

  I'm heading there tomorrow. Pretty stoked public transport is free with the event ticket, I even read the rest of the email I received. Quite fortunate I live within walking distance of bus stops and a train station with straight forward access to Mt Eden so it works for me. Looking forward to seeing the other stations when the rest of the tickets are released.

    hi where do you find the public transport is free with the ticket?
    I cannot find it I checked the FAQ part as well….

      It's on the follow up email I received yesterday to remind me about the event. Under "Before you arrive":

      "Arrive during your booked session time.
      Have your ticket printed or added to your digital wallet before arriving - it will be scanned on entry.
      Free public transport (excluding ferries) is included with your event ticket - simply show your event ticket to public transport staff for free bus and train trips to and from the event."

  Does anyone know if Ruru Lane is open in Eden Terrace? The AT app is suggesting I use it to access the Maungawhau event, but from what I can recall its attached to the station so I am sceptical is open.

  Also, we have tickets for the 4pm session, I assume we can show up any time in the 1-hour slot? We went to the open day years ago for the tunnelling machine and this was the case. Everyone showed up at the start of the session and there were huge queues but after 20 minutes the queues were gone.

    I went to the preview tonight and Ruru Street entrance is open. No problem about timing, as long as you are within your slot it is fine.
    Looking forward to K Road Station next week, and Te Wai the follow week - those are the really impressive stations.

  I'm looking forward to checking it out tomorrow at 4pm with the family after sports. Public transport is a bit rubbish there at least until the trains start ironically. Good excuse to hit up Dominion road afterwards for dinner. Cost a stupid amount of money to build but looking forward to checking it out.

    Really? Mt Eden Rd is a high frequency corridor, and New North Rd is good as well
