  • 5000K.

If its for most living spaces in a home you'd want closer to 4000K

Purchased some myself, they're coming today. please reply if you have any questions

    • Thanks @intelarc would be good to know if the temperature is adjustable? Thanks!

      • +2

Yes color temp is adjustable, they're pretty good for the price but as others said i would probably pick up the $10 5year warranty aluminum ones instead

"Luminaires not suitable for covering with thermally insulating or other material"
Our ceiling space has pink bats covering all it it.
I guess all of these style lights need ventilation space?

You can get some. Ones with are IC or IC-F rated. Which means insulation can gover over the top of them(glass/mineral wool, not sure about others). It's required in New builds nowadays.

      • That rating is just a fire safety thing and not that it will last well when taken to those temperatures for a long time.

I would always go for ones with a separate driver that can be put ontop of the insulation so that the capacitors are being baked a little less than the integrated cheapies like these ones. But at $5 or if you are selling the house soon, it becomes immaterial how long they will last.

I prefer to spend a little more to get actual downlights, and not just milky fronted throw the light sideways glare causing lights like these ones.

  • Does anybody know how to find the Supplier Declaration of Conformity (SDoC) for this down light?
I wouldn't want to install a down light without first making sure it meets New Zealand standards.

    • It's sold at PB, not Panda mart. I'd guess they'd already taken care of it, though you never know these days like the kmart sand.

    • +1

Typically everything sold at pbtech has met NZ standards, + it has the NZ/AU RCM certification tick

  • Might be able to find this at your local Kmart (removed from NZ website)

If it's anything like my small genio smart lights they are awful. They regularly lose connectivity rendering not so smart into you give them a nudge with the buttons on the back. They were clearance so not complaining too much but I wouldn't buy the brand again. I don't have anywhere near the same issues with anything else smart in our house.

  • Thanks so much. I just ordered 31 of these from their logistic center and plan to change all my lights.

  • Wonder if they would work with existing 100mm cutouts, says overall dimension is 115mm

    • They're suppose to be for a 90mm cutout. You could probably get some shims to expand it out to that size, but they're likely to cost more than the light itself 😄

  • Yes will fit, latch is long enough. Just received mine.

Excellent price, I'm very tempted to buy some for the kitchen but would have liked matching dimmable ones for the lounge.

I noticed they have these different size/style dimmable ones, which are twice the price but still not bad:

OEM Ultra Slim Downlight Full aluminium body, 100mm Cut Out, 3000K Colour Temp, 700lm, 9W Warm White

They also have 100mm cold white 8W and 120mm warm white 12W at the same price.

    • +2

Just noticed the dimmable ones are also slimline, IP54, insulation coverable and have a 5 year warranty. Nice.

These won't be very bright alone at 800lm
It will be fine in areas where multiple of these are installed.

Also note low CRI of 80

  • I have the below light. Some started flickering. I had an electrician in to replace one and a switch. Cost me around $450. Sooo. My question is would these lights be suitable to swap out for my lights? I am hoping some people with more knowledge than me can advise please.

Looking at these, they are supplied with some awful looking terminal block which will not cover the wires enough so you will need to budget to add on a terminal box as well to hold that in, or whatever better connections you use.

    • Yeah, I was thinking that too

      • i have some on hand now, i will say the terminal block is rubbish but once its secure its fine, does cover the wires. they're ok for the price i guess

        • Not sure it's about being covered, I think to be fully compliant when installed the connection has to only be accessible by using a tool, ie. In an enclosure that is screwed shut. Usually this means a junction box, unless the light fitting itself has a screw terminal with a screwed-on cover.

I have used these for a while now. They are great!

  • I am trying to replace my existing LED down lights with these, but Midea ones don't have a transformer and the connection seems different, would anyone able to send me some photo instructions? thanks in advance!
