I signed up for an ASB Visa Platinum in July when they last offered this deal.

Just a heads up - they don't make it obvious when the points will be allocated. I found the date 18th of October where they said they would all be allocated "by", and I got mine on approx the 15th of October. So 3 months.. quite a long wait.

You do also earn rewards for your normal credit card spend too - 1 point per $1 spend and 2000 gets you a $15 voucher, same as normal. These are done once a month not long after the end of your billing cycle (from memory). And then you earn them normally if shopping at Woolworths as well - so that one is a bit like double dipping.

By the time I got that bonus $300 I had also earned about $90 in vouchers.

    • True, I got mine around the same time in Octorber

    • That seems fairly standard wait time from my experience with other cards, Amex has a 8-10 weeks after meeting spending criteria so about 2 months plus the first few weeks to spend the money. My ANZ platinum aimpoints arrive in Jan and I received the card late October

  • Note that there is a fee of $20 for Visa Rewards and $40 for Visa Platinum Rewards that will apply just after your card is activated.
About three months later you will get your points, and then six months after activation there is another $20/$40 fee.

  • Same experience as the above posters with this. Was worth it though.

  • I see you can convert everyday rewards points into Airpoints. Does this mean this bonus would convert to 300 airpoints instead of woolworths vouchers?

      Yes.

It was my intention to do this but honestly its all the same dollar for dollar really. 300 airpoints dollars, 300 everyday rewards dollars, 300 cash.. if you're going to spend it anyway then what does it matter.

I normally shop at Pak n Save and everything at Woolworths feels like it's more expensive. So in essence, 300 doesn't feel like 300 to me, since I'd need to go out of my way to shop at the more expensive supermarket.

On the other hand, airpoints can avoid the AirNZ credit card surcharge on flights (and POLI). The counterargument being, fly Jetstar for cheaper etc I guess.

        • Well its not so much everything at Woolworths 'feels' more expensive as everything at Woolworths IS more expensive.

But they also have specials, and Pak n Save's product range sucks. I pretty much never shopped at Woolworths previously but will use my vouchers on well priced stuff now.

  • It doesn't mention a spend requirement is it literally receive the bonus by switching to everyday rewards and signing up? That's crazy good.
