  • Doubt if I would call Philips a quality brand, but we do have the smaller model very simple and easy to use.

Never had a air fryer but thinking about it. What are the quality brands? Ninja, Brabantia?

      • Ninja is good, I have one

Philips made the first wide spread air fryer. I think I have one of the models before this one still trucking, it's at least 5 years old and not a problem with it.
The construction sure feels better than my partners much newer Brabantia model which doesn't even resume cooking when you pull the basket out to give it a shake and put it back in.
I would rather she have bought this for 75 bucks over that annoying thing.

        • That sounds like a nuisance. So you've to set the time and temp all over again?

          • @aquafaba: I brought the Philips 4 Lt a few months ago for $35 at Noel lemming and it has a mechanical timer. You just have to turn each time. You can set the temperature once. We also have the Russell Hobbs 8Lt with all the bells and whistles but I actually prefer the Philips for its simplicity.

          • @aquafaba: Sorry if I wasn't clear.
The user experience from Philips to brabantia when cooking:

            Phillips:
Pull out drawer, shake, put drawer back in (cooking resumes).

            Brabantia:
Pull out drawer, shake, put drawer back in, PRESS START to resume cooking.

I know it seems like such a nothing issue, but when you've cooking other stuff, and you're used to just yank the basket shake and chuck back in. The extra little step of pressing start again is frustrating. I've twice just had half cooked food using that air fryer because I think it's just resumed but it doesn't. I don't see why I should have to press start again.

Sound like a real rich person problem, but I cook everything in my air fryer because most of the time I cook for one or two people. Its not worth the power bill of warming my oven.

            • @JMV1080: Thanks for sharing in detail. I totally get that pressing start again is quite a nuisance, especially if you're not used to it. I just bought a 2nd Ninja unit today to reduce waiting time as I air fry loads too. Pretty good deal at $98 from JBhifi - no need to press start again after shaking, digital temp and time controls.

  • Great price but I would pay extra for the temperature control

    • Product description say "Adjustable temperature control from 80-200°C".

      • No way, thank you guys

There's a small dial at the top to turn and adjust temperature

      • Thank you, I'm going to buy it as a second

    • Yea.. the dial just doesn’t feel as good.

I’m currently using this Ninja and it’s only $100 jbhifi! https://www.jbhifi.co.nz/products/ninja-af100-air-fryer?gad_…

Just remember everyone that "$249.99" a complete load of crap and not real. (Eg Briscoes Price)

This is a basic air fryer with exactly the same "Technology" as every other $75 airfryer around.

You can see how Briscoes artificially inflates their own sales, if you search "Philips 1000 Series Airfryer Black NA130/00" on Google shopping you can see that it indicates it's marked down form $100 but on their website it shows marked down from $249 lol
