The Marketclub members exclusive pricing from yesterday turned out to be just 24 hours early access for Marketclub members to the sale that is now open to everyone. Ends 28th August. Oversized delivery/pickup charges apply for online orders. If you're not a Marketclub member I recommend you sign up, it's free, because you get a $5 voucher and can save a few bucks on shipping costs compared to non members.

Don't know much about this tv, but at face value it seems like a decent budget option, especially if you're a gamer. If you don't care about gaming and are just looking for a tv to watch your movies and shows on then I think this tv is still the best one that's included in the sale. It offers some higher end features the other televisions on sale don't, such as local dimming.

  • 144hz refresh rate
  • hdmi 2.1
  • Auto Low Latency Mode
  • Dolby Vision, HDR10
  • 7 speaker 2.1.2CH sound with built in subwoofer
  • Google TV
  • find my remote (I wish my tv had that)

The Warehouse also has some other models on special, couldn't find any detailed specs on these but I don't think any of them offer hdmi 2.1 or are higher than 60hz if you care about those things, which you won't unless you're going to be using it for modern gaming.

  • With higher frequency displays going mainstream, I wonder if media will follow suit.

Whilst cinema stayed at ~20-30fps for the aesthetics, TV was usually 60fps, maybe TV will one day push up to 120fps, higher frequency media gives a "looks real" feel.

As the stuff that has been released already has show, most people, and all film buffs, rwaly dont like the look of higher frame rates. It looks odd. Like watching a soap opera. Many directors hate it as well.

Good for sports and (some) games. Bad for movies and TV.

Yeah 24fps is the best. Even going from 24 to 60fps for Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk made it look really uncanny, though I've read that that was a stylistic choice by the director and the HFR was used to help portray the effects of PTSD. I think there's a reason why we've only had 2 movies that I know of that've had HFR home releases, Billy Lynn and Gemini Man. If HFR improved the viewing experience then there'd be more than 2 HFR movies available for cinephiles to purchase. I know Netflix does some HFR content, but I'm not sure what, I'm guessing it's some of their docos and animated shows.

I think some films would suit HFR at home, I wouldn't mind seeing a HFR version of Gravity at home.

24 is mega juddery in slow pan type shots.

But know where you are coming down. HFR cinema fad and 3D in general too have come and gone so far.

    • TVs have been 60hz for decades and TV and Movies havent followed suite. Its because audiences are subconsciously use to 24 fps and anything else looks weird to them.

These TVs hitting high refresh rates is because gaming has gone mainstream. Millenials and younger play more games than they watch media on and the games industry makes more money too. so the display companies are just trying to keep that market segment.

They hate higher framerates and complain all about it when TVs try to fix the low FPS with motionflow and similar. I find that it makes movies watchable and not cause me to feel sick when on a decent sized screen so like it on, and it really annoys me when all these "cinema experts" trot out crap about turning it off so you see it like the director intended.

  • Is the marketclub still a thing?

      I mean, obviously…..

It's not what it used to be but it still has the occassional good deal

I came to ask the same thing. Warehouse has fallen so hard lately after that ceo made the call for a marketplace no one wanted. Lost torpedo 7 from the group too, and warehouse stationary is now just a small area of an existing warehouse store. Crazy how mismanaged that has been.

      • +2

Dont forget the non existent groceries section that tried to compete with supermarkets. I only go there to hunt for transformer toys since their stock count indicator online sux.

        • Staff pick over them so all the good toys are gone by the time you get to the shelves.

  • How would this compare to the TCL C6K?

    • +1

It's hard to say because there's no information that I can find online for the JVC tv apart from what's on the product page at The Warehouse, I think the models The Warehouse sell must be exclusive to them, maybe rebrands of other JVC models sold overseas, but like I said I can't find anything on them. There's a lot more information available for the TCL, reviews and detailed specs, but if it's better than the JVC, I just don't know because I don't know enough about the JVC. At this price point I think you're going to be getting much of muchness when it comes to performance and picture quality between similarly priced televisions that offer similar technologies, so if I was in the market for one of these I'd be inclined to go with whatever one had the features I wanted and was the cheapest.

The TCL does offer a 36 month warranty while the JVC only offers 12, and although those numbers don't really matter because the CGA should cover you longer than both of those periods, it's still something you might want to take into consideration.

    • JVC, Veon is the same television by a different name and specs are similar obviously a generic TV made in China for the warehouse. I had the 55 inch JVC model down from that and the picture quality was very good for the money and mostly used it as a monitor for my mini Mac but operating system a bit slow. Longevity with a lot of these landfill appliances can be hit miss but my Veon 42 inch is seven years old and still going well.

    Bought one, thanks op

    • Please report back with your thoughts on the TV! Thinking of upgrading my mothers ancient 40” lcd.

We got the non mini led version in March for $649. Couldn't find much info about that either. It's been great, really responsive, picture looks great, sound was suprisingly good. Was a huge upgrade from my old Sony with Android TV. This version should be even better. We mostly use TVNZ+, YouTube and Kodi, the google system makes it nice and easy for the kids to find stuff on YouTube. No mention of warranty, might be 3 years like ours which was better than lots of others I was looking at.
