Full list of tools at the link.

From a quick check the cheapest seems to be the DCE512N-XJ 18V XR Jobsite Fan at $198.
But you might find it cheaper, that's the price I saw at Mitre10.

Fan is $177 at bunnings(bunnings.co.nz) you could try your luck with a price beat at Mitre 10

Tried price beating with Mitre10. They said the way the promo is set up in their system is that it won't allow any additional discounts (once the battery and charger are scanned), so it will be at their retail price… Somebody else might be luckier than me though!

I got luckier at M10 Te Rapa. It took forever, but I ended up with the recip saw $349 at Mitre10(mitre10.co.nz), $268 at Bunnings(bunnings.co.nz) for $227.80.

My journey to the cheapie side is complete.

I got the price beat today. The issue is the register will apply the price but revert back when it comes to paying. Mitre 10 fixed the issue by zeroing out the cost of the battery and charger before going to the payment screen on their terminal and it worked. Mitre 10 Petone. I bought the DeWALT Laminate Trimmer Router - $408 at bunnings(bunnings.co.nz) and $429 at Mitre 10(mitre10.co.nz) so $346.8.

      • I also had success with the laminate trimmer at Petone Mitre 10.
The price at Bunnings has dropped to $378, but Mitre 10 only dropped theirs to $379. Price beat was $321.30 including battery and charger.

    • As this deal also seems to apply to mitre 10, I can't see why it wouldn't qualify for their price beat in their terms? I woudl ask to escalate to their manager

    • Got the Vacuum for $185.30 after the price beat at the Hornby branch. No issues.

      • How are you finding the vacuum? Planning to get this one as well.

        • Won't start using it until next year.

          • @xsolider: Can you please explain how to do this? Do you just take all the items to the counter and show the bunnings price?

            • @Shrimply: Yes, I went there at the end of the day. They must have done the same thing with other customers during the day so they knew what to do.

        • It has great reviews on amazon.

      • Bizarrely Mitre 10 have lowered the price of the vacuum to $219, which is still $1 more than Bunnings so you can still price beat. I might pick one up over the weekend seeing that price beat should work

Did you end up getting one? I might be leaning to get one also. The only bad thing in the reviews is that the filter clogs up really quick. I'm just planning on using it for lighter use for car, quick clean ups etc and keep the main cable vac for genreal house cleans. Then if i have the battery i can start to pickup some other second hand dewalt tools.

          • @Shrimply: I haven't decided yet, but it is tempting. I would like a better cordless drill too, so am thinking this is where it starts

Got it done though online, just add the item you requested to price guarantee, then add the charger and 5A battery separately and apply the promo code the online team sent you the two bonus items will show as $0.

Sweet, can confirm that this worked for me also.

What am i missing here? Seems really cheap? Or are the bare tools a pretty poor way to buy these rather than a bundle of multiple hand tools?

    • +1

Just a lot of competition within the power tools space is my guess. But yeah like ink in printers I think these companies have been creaming it for years with the price of batteries. When you break them down they're just standard 18650s inside a plastic case. I doubt they cost more than $20 to manufacture.

It is always cheaper to get a kit if you can find one that has what you want but nothing you do not (or that you cannot on-sell). They always contain a drill and driver, for example. Trademe should be swimming in battery-less drills, drivers, and chargers from people who have bought a kit for some saws and an angle grinder or whatever but are already knee-deep in the rest.

This deal seems perfect if you need just one item. Especially if (like me) you aren't into DeWalt yet. I'm going to get the recip saw, battery, and charger for slightly less (or a lot less, if I have better luck at Mitre10 than the weekend warrior did) than just the recip saw skin that fits the battery system I'm into now.

As building has crashed in NZ I suspect that builders aren't buying many tools so they need to lift sales. Pretty good deal.
