Falmec 90 Lumina NRS T-Shape Wall Canopy Rangehood $1,989 + $109 Shipping @ Kitchen Things

30

I've been eyeing silent rangehood for a while and this price is pretty good given the 10yr warranty.

Do note however, it does NOT come with the NRS padded elbow as advertised here

https://www.facebook.com/FalmecAus/videos/a-closer-look-at-n…

or

https://prks.bynder.com/m/7cd4a37d47715dc4/original/Lumina-N…

instead it's an unpadded elbow made by RAJA Group
Not sure how significant it'd affect the noise level will be but it's an updated part according to the supplier even though their own documentation aren't updated…

Nice. Our kitchen refit, the one thing we cheaped out on was the rangehood, and I regret it every time the airplane engine volume kicks in and we have to communicate through signing or smoke signals.

    • I would go with fan mounted in ceiling instead

    • yeah my old one was like that hence I've been eyeing for a replacement, their demo unit in newmarket's really quiet so I am hoping this would be as quiet.

  • I usually don't post but agree with foodie that ceiling one far superior in terms of silence which I can personally vouch for + way better actually working suction e.g. https://www.kitchenthings.co.nz/schweigen-scc1200-sp-silent-…

I do accept price is higher but that's 800 suction power on the original post vs 3200 which is very very nice to use

    • in the US state of massachusetts i think anything over 4-500 cfm ~ 800m^3/hr requires to have make up air installed as well which I think is a fine idea… that way you avoid your house becomes so negatively pressured that all the mouldy air from all the crevices creeps back in the house etc. Can't imagine what 3200 would be like lol great for ventilation for sure.

  • Putting myself on a limb but a silly price for a fan, a piece of ducting and a filter.

With that said agree that vast majority of rangehoods are rattly, noisy and don't seem to make proportional amount of difference. Really like the idea of having the fan in-ceiling. I know such arrangement makes a huge difference for bathrooms

    • couple of chinese brands have moved in, real fancy DC fan and gesture command etc, I was somewhat enticed but found out a lot of them don't have a filter. really interesting design choices for sure lol but I like simpler more mechanical things made with durable materials etc so stuck with these tried and true brands.

      • What are the chinese brands? Keen to look at them too

        • i've seen midea in newmarket, those are more traditional
and there's fotile and robam they're more high end.. not sure if xiaomi are coming in too

the fancy ones are mostly brushless DC motor while very energy efficient I just don't see them lasting very long

I have a schweigen. It works great, but it's no where near as quiet as they advertise, especially if you have a baffle filter. The way the air passes through them just makes it quite noisy. Other thing is their remotes are complete rubbish. For such an expensive unit, they cheap out on some 1 dollar crappy led remote, which has a range of literally 5 cm from the hood!

    • Thank you for your valuable comment. I didn't know they offer remotes. Which version did you get that has remotes may I ask?

    • interesting, didnt know they came with remotes either,
What model motor did you get?
Iv been looking at a UM-12UMS SE -
Fair bit to spend, but now not as sure if they are still noisy

I put in a Ikon with remote motor in my last place, and was much quieter than the OG rangehood, but also made a bit of noise with the airflow itself
