    • Did you get one?

      • +1

No. I have already have N100 & 2 Dell micro pcs so don't need one currently. But this is definitely a great deal considering we don't get much offers like this from Amazon which can be delivered here.

  • What are these and how to use them?

    • +1

It's good to use for setting up a mini server at home as it is low power consumption or you can use it as a spare PC for something that runs a 24/7 hour task that does need too much computing power.

  • I'm seriously considering, might be time to retire the 2016 tower setup that's been running plex.
Recommendations on a cheapish NAS that would house 2-4 drives?

    • +5

I would rather suggest convert your existing tower to a NAS & move your services like plex to this mini pc. I did the same. I have Beelink N100 eq12. You can run trueNAS or Unraid or some form of Linux as your NAS.

      • Now that is a smart idea!

        • I am running Unraid on my old pc & Proxmox on mini pc.

  • Thanks! Been waiting for a good deal on mini a PC for ages. Doing my research now but which one do you think is the better value for setting up my own mini server at home running plex, home assistant, possibly cloud back ups, NAS, etc.?

    Cheers

      I would say N150

      • Thanks! Can you provide a really brief reason on why?

        • +1

Not much difference between the 2. N150 has lower power consumption compared to N97. N150 is newer.

  • Oh yeah that would be a great OPNSense/PFSense box, Fibre ONT goes into one port, cable to router/switch with DHCP turned off out the other port.

Enterprise level network and security controls, a powerful, easy VPN into your home network and letting your WAP/Router dedicate itself to switching (which significantly boosted my wireless performance because the processors in those are trash).

And you'll never have to upgrade it again, just swap out the WAP as wireless tech changes.

    • +2

Absolutely until you need 2.5g lol.

      • I have a mix of 1, 2.5 and 10Gb at home, but my fibre pipe is 1Gb and it's unlikely that will change in the next decade, and if it ever did, it would probably be to a 10Gb fibre pipe. I don't actually know anyone who's genuinely using 2.5Gb on their LAN.

Like, I know people who have it, but they're either using wireless clients and browsing the web, or streaming video at like 40Mb/s, or they just don't do anything that requires 300MB/s transfer speeds over the network but not the internet.

The 10Gb devices I use are contained in a single room, and they're all servers that talk to each other, then go out over 1Gb to the internet, or wireless to my local devices. So they have a local 10Gb switch.

Could even install them at your parents/family houses and set up site-to-site VPNs for easy management of family networks and computers, and sharing of your network services (like Plex/JellyFin).

        • Totally agree. I have 2.5g router & switch & mini pc, but that's it for now. Just staying future proof as price difference between 1g & 2.5g is not much. I don't even have 1g fibre, 300 plan is still good enough for me.

  • Wonder which one is a better option as HTPC running Kodi, to play high bitrate 4K HDR files.
    TIA.

    • +1

Both are same in that respect. Both have got same igpu. So I would go for cheaper option i.e N150

  • +2

I think the N150 deal has finished.

  • Unfortunately it looks like the N150 dual LAN variant is out of stock. I went to purchase with "1 in stock", Amazon gave me an error and now the link redirects to a different model (more expensive with only single LAN).

My adventures in OPNsense will wait for another day 🥲

Hopefully those that ordered it, gets their order furfilled. I think the 1tb deal is better anyways. 1tb M.2 2242s are really expensive..

  • I'm not able to find where you can collect the $60 coupon from?

  • +1

Was able to put an order for the N150, hopefully it gets fulfilled - wouldn't mind if they send the 1TB / 16GB version though :)

    • +3

My N150 order just changed to Shipped status, so promising!

      • Same here!

Nice deal, thanks. Good excuse to upgrade the ROG ALLY to 1TB and put that NVME in this.

    • You probably would need an nvme adapter for this?

      • Yup, few $ from Aliexpress. Will get one when I decide what I'm going to use it for.

  • Coupon appears to have been removed?

    • +1

      Deal expired

      • Thought it was only the N150, my b.

  • i have a mini pc that has 512gb ssd 16gb ram and n100 cpu and its great for video editing browsing the web watching videos even good for playing older games
