Tesla Model 3 Performance $87,124 Drive Away @ Tesla

95

Tesla has just updated the Model 3 Performance variant with a more focused driver experience, and fresh design elements. It can now do the 0-100 quickstep in a claimed 3.1sec, en route to a top speed of 262km/h. Range is a stated 528km (WLTP).

Staggered 20-inch performance tyres are said to produce sharper turn-in response, improved predictability and increased corner exit traction on both road and track. A new feature is adaptive damping, set for improved handling prowess without affecting ride comfort unduly. Contributing to improved dynamics is increased structural stiffness in the chassis, and updated springs, stabiliser bars and bushings. Stronger brakes use high-performance brake pads for more immediate deceleration and higher thermal limits.

A revised Track Mode now integrates adaptive suspension control with a performance-optimised powertrain. Handling balance, stability controls and regenerative braking can all be customised via a new user interface.

Anyone got a BOGOF code? My partner wants one as well, but don’t want to max out the mortgage.

I think no one will share it.
Buy two and sell them. lol

Not a fan of the Tesla fans doing this (seems to only be new Tesla models that end up here 🤔). It's not a deal just an ad isn't it?

    • ^ this?

    • +5

Looks like price cuts world wide for model 3 and Y, due to "decline in sales and profitability".

The performance trim here has been off the market for several months, and the launch price of the post-facelift performance car (announced today) is more than $10k cheaper than the pre-facelift was a year ago.

I think it is fair to post attractive launch prices & price cuts. Otherwise we call into the consumer trap of chasing discounts, rather than just good pricing in general.

Still if you want me to post MG's OMG Factory Bonus ($3000 of mg zs ev range, $2000 of MG4 range etc) i can.

I used to post lots of car deals here, but the market has shifted (especially EV), Now many of the best deal's are low volume. I.e. Kia EV6 GT (0-100 in 3.5s) ex demo for $83k. (was ~$135k)

      • +3

Maybe put that detail of the "deal" in the post?

      • I appreciate these deals, keep it up

      • I believe that's the difference though, this is RRP; it's the only price this specific iteration has ever sold for so impossible to say it's a good price. It could be cheaper in a month knowing Tesla.
I also wouldn't consider anything 2nd hand, especially a performance car that would have assuredly been driven pretty hard as a demo car, a deal.
Only my opinion though. It seems to be staying so must be considered all good.

If we only chase discounts on RRP, we end up encouraging Briscoes like business practices, where normal prices are inflated such that frequent massive discount's & sales can be run.

As such, I think it is fair to post notable launch prices & price cuts. In this case it is a launch price that is notable as 1. quickest sub $100k car & 2. Substantially cheaper than the pre-facelift model of the same trim.

Yes, you are correct, given tesla has cut prices twice so far this year, a further price cut would not be a supprise.

On Ex demo car's, I can see your point, but for me it would be worth it. We are down to one of these $83k EV6 GT's on trademe (from 3), so I must not be alone in this. Should note that not all demo's have seen much use. There is a EV6 GT being sold ex-demo with just 25km on the odomenter (not an error, a photo shows the odo showing 21km), but that one is asking $10k more.

Should note with cheaper plug in car's, a lot of dealers registered car's as demo car's in the last few months of 2023 (so they could claim the clean car discount). The rules allow them to sell those cars not less than 3 months later. In the case of some slower selling EV's there are still a lot of those car's on the market. Using the e-208 as an example there is a ex demo 2023 advertised with just 500km on the odometer. So right now there are an oddly high number of very lightly used ex-demo car's on the market.

Best to quote the Drive away price ($87,124), as it is not possible to avail the list price of $84,900.

  • What a deal ;)

If you're buying I got a referral code. Might finally have enough points to get a Tesla coffee cup.

Doesn’t seem to meet the threshold for a deal, for me. What would be the RRP? Otherwise, like the other guy said, this is more of an ad.

  • +1

    How is this a deal?

    • It’s not a deal.

It’s an awful lot of money for a poorly built car.

  • -1

Check 2nd hand sales. Tesla price tanking hard on the used market. Distressed mortgage sales

  • -2

Probably getting rid of old stock.
I'm anticipation of the new model 3 performance just got released globally that does 0-100 in 2.9 seconds!

    • This is a new release. First time the post facelift model 3 performance has been offered in NZ.

On the 2.9s version that is being sold in other markets, this time is measured 0- 60mph, which works out to 0 - 96.6 km/h, so the measurements aren't exactly comparable.

That said, the USA produced version (which won't be offered here), has a different brand battery pack, and slightly more power than the China built version that gets sold in NZ.

Great deal if you want to lose $50k in 3 years

  • The new one regressed

Turn indicators on face of steering wheel really sucks
