  • I purchased one in the past (from PB Tech), and it came with a DIN rail transformer. I don't recall the exact specs on it right now but it was a fairly high voltage (20V).
  • The wiring instructions for both the chime and the doorbell are absolute trash, which doesn't help. I'm an electrical engineer and can't figure out what the hell some of the pictorial instructions are getting at, so when it doesn't work it's just a guessing game.
  • I also found this video of someone directly using Passive PoE to power their G4

  • We've had one of these for a little over 2 years now and it works well. If you don't have a chime box (like we don't), with Home Assistant and Google Text to Speech you can have it announce a message over your smart speakers when someone presses the button.

    Mine arrived this morning :)

Thank you. Would have been nice if they'd kept it at $33 :)

Damn, with all the extra Ubiquiti things you'll need to properly set this up, I can't justify it.

    • Yeah it's a good deal if you're already in the ecosystem. Bit pricey otherwise.

    • Snap was thinking exactly the same thing.

    • The list of Ubiquiti Protect devices was to show the choice of devices that work with the G4 Doorbell - it will work with just the Ubiquiti CloudKey Gen2+ (~$371) which comes with a 1TB drive.

I've had one before, main problem is I could never get it to work with our mechanical bell. It would power up fine, but when the button is pushed, the bell would buzz, but never ding dong like it should and wasn't smart enough to stop after answering on the phone. There's no way for the doorbell to loop it either so had to remove the mechanical bell and I then bought the chime from the european store which works wonders but took a while to arrive. I then added it into HomeAssistant, and it now rings my Sonos speakers throughout the house if someone is at the door too. Just a shame it never worked with the mechanical doorbell, my sparky had a crack at it too. At $97, it's a steal compared to the $350 i paid.

    • How did you go about ordering from the Ubiquiti EU store? I've had no luck in the past with YouShop USA ordering from the US store, my order would get cancelled, but maybe the EU store is different.

There's heaps of mail forwarding companies out there. I used myukmailbox. My order didn't get cancelled. I did use a prepaid visa card tho, rather than nz card.

Managed to grab one for $35 delivered when the price dropped temporarily.
Got an email that it was a pricing error but they would honor it anyway, 10/10 would order from again.

    Even at $100 it's a great deal.

    Thanks Wakrak

    • My ~$33 price order from Acquire is still sitting at "Reviewing" status fingers crossed

  • Still have not shipped showing on backorder but in stock on the website.
    No emails from them.
    Will wait it out

People have definitely received orders from them on Geekzone.

      • Price just dropped back to $96 again on PP and Ascent

    • Just got shipping confirmation
Ascent has marked their site as out of stock and increased price again i think they are blocking it till they can get a hold of the issue.
      PP still showing as ordered
