Sony A80K 55" OLED TV $1795 + Shipping / Pickup @ JB Hi-Fi

650

Seems like a very good deal.

At the moment, it's half the price from other stores. Actually, this is the first time I've seen a 55 inches OLED TV under the 2k dollars price.
If I didn't have my LG C1 55, I would have definitely got this one now.

  • Wow that's a great price! Delivery is $110

    Review below

    https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/a80k-oled

  • Could pricermatch at Noel Leeming and score yourself some Flybuys too.

  • Could also do a pricematch at Sony to get free delivery
    https://store.sony.co.nz/television-OLED/XR55A80K.html#q=a80…

  • Looks like might be a pricing error, says no longer available online when I try to check out

    • I managed to order one ok. Let's see if it gets cancelled…

      • Please let me know, was so close to getting one haha

        • No cancellation yet but I'm not holding my breath. Price match with NL was definitely the way to go but I didn't have time for that at the time I saw this deal

        • +2

Order was cancelled but they're sending a $50 gift card as an apology. Not bad!

  • has to be a pricing error - no way you could get an OLED for under 2k in NZ! I got the previous model A80J 55" on boxing day for 2.3kish. Normal RRP in NZ is $3.5k+ for this model https://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=5947701

    • +14

i was able to price match on noel leeming and put through an order for pick up in an hour - will see if i can get it

      • +4

        This guy cheapies

  • +1

Still available, too bad i don't have a house :(

  • Probably pricing error.

  • +2

hmmm. pram, cot and car seat, or new tv…..

    • +2

New tv only if you want it to land on your head or on FB martketplace lol.

    • +18

The answer is obvious, your baby is more important and will thank you for the vivid image quality of the new TV.

      • +8

😄 start spinning some yarns like "babe, I think we should take a natural approach with baby. topnaturalbabytips.com recommends babies should sleep on the floor for the first six months because I spent all of our baby money on the new TV it helps in bone strengthening.

        • +2

          Sounds credible.
          Should work. 🤞

  • I can add it but then it gets removed once I try and checkout from the cart

  • and its gone!!

  • Dam I want this lol

  • Price now at $3589

  • Tried price match with NL but they so slow the price went up by the time they responed haha. Oh well, be interested to see if those who ordered from jb get the item.

    • +6

i managed to price match and buy one with NL - will be collecting it shortly from noel leeming (fingers crossed lol)

      • +11

        picked it up!!

        • Hot damn! Nice work! I should have just bought it from jb but too tight to pay the shipping!

          • +1

@Donnycrane: JBHifi are more likely to cancel the order and refund you as pricing error in my opinion.

  • +7

I've managed to picematch it with NL, thanks @Neotk

    • +1

      Well done @gall and @dirtymike

  • So it was you guys hogging the chat!! :) Nice work! I would love to see the sales assistants faces when you pick those bad boys up.

  • +1

Looks like they've priced it as if it's the Sony X80K 55".
Whoever was quick enough to get one for $1795, great job!

  • +1

I got a match at NL also, find out in an hour, thanks @Neotk

    • Did you manage to get it?

      • +5

Yes. just went and got it, the guy was amazed at the price but no issues, now just need to work out why i needed another oled TV.

        • +3

yeah lmao, when the deal popped up my partner was on work calls so i didnt really consult (ask for permission). Came home with a big box and my gf was like wtf?

          • +2

@dirtymike: Always better to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission!
Certainly if you want a new TV anyway.

          • +7

@dirtymike: And then she said "Mike, you've done the dirty on me".

          • +3

@dirtymike: lol, yeah i'm gonna have that issue in about 4 hours

  • +4

NL just called me and won't honor pricing now that it no longer on JB website :(

    • Bummer should have ran down to the store and picked it up asap

Happened to my brother once who managed to get 2x $250 headphones for $150, told him to go pick it up asap, he did
I got to a store 15mins later and they changed the pricing and wouldn't accept.
      (from this deal https://www.cheapies.nz/node/1957)

luckily got my brother to sell the other one to me for $75 :D

      • I had already got the price match and paid for it online!

        • +1

          Yeah that sucks :'(

Though I wonder if you can raise a complaint to the commerce commission because in this case the store people checked the pricing and matched it and since you paid you've basically completed the transaction.
They can't say its a system fault or anything since it required a person to lookup the price at JBhifi and look at their system price and match it which also usually requires manager approval.

          • @Huntakillaz: Yeah can understand cancellation from jb hifi but not from anyone who did price match it.

      • So you would've have ran down to NL to price match? From my experience NL stores will do everything they can to reject price matches, especially if it's way below RRP.

        • No price match online and then if it works run down to pickup it asap as the few here have done.

          • +1

@Huntakillaz: That makes more sense. The store can't reject an online sale.

  • +10

i've just picked up one from NL price match - was a bit nervous but stoked, now i have 2x sony oleds at 55" lol (a80j and a80k)

    • +2

      Congratulations.

Please make sure you give OP a '+' vote for finding such a great deal.

I’m so effing happy I didn’t see this in time to give it a crack!!! I ordered a 65” Philips OLED804 (2019) from PBTech on Saturday night for $2499, only to do some research, then have second thoughts and to then go into the Hamilton store yesterday and request to change it to their newer 2021 65” MiniLED offering for $2299. It wasn’t quite resolved yesterday but I’m assured that it would be today, and now I’m wondering if I’ve made a horrible mistake… If I’d seen this deal available, I think I might have had an aneurysm…

    • +1

I'm really interested to hear your thoughts on the Philips when you get it. I'm looking at a new tv and the mini led ones are very compelling. Was looking at a TCL c825 or maybe the Phillips as I like the idea of ambilight. The other options is the Panasonic jz980. All in the same ballpark price eise but I can't find anywhere selling them all to see them together and judge the picture quality.

  • +3

Bro, when you see this deal and then come here and see it was blown up xD

  • Should've tried price matching with NL. I tried with Sony NZ but they said they'd get back to me in 24-48 hours. Doubt they'd do it now.

  • +1

I really stuffed up this one I tryed Sony…but like has been said they were going to get back to me.Then I was on noel lemming live chat…all was going well untill I pushed the limited by asking if they could do free shipping..by the time they got back to me the link had been removed

  • +5

That could be a great way to mess with other retailers.

Throw out an occasional "pricing error" and watch as everyone runs off to other retailers to price match, then just reject any orders due to a pricing error.

    • +11

for the employee who made the price error: "Hi boss, I didn't make any profit to the company, but I made our competitor a great lost, can I have end of year bonus?"

  • +3

That's the second price error within the last seven days. Whoever's making these errors, good on ya mate.

    • Probably one of the best price errors in a while too.

The biggest I can think of is years back when Delta/Virgin priced business class at economy rates!

  • +1

Does anyone have a screenshot of the original listing by any chance?

  • Cancellation emails going out now.

    • What was the cancellation reason that you got? I got a violation of section 6.9 "Goods that you have ordered will not be dispatched to you until your payment for the Goods has cleared. If your payment cannot be processed, your Order will be rejected and we will notify you by email." I made payment via paypal.

Would be interested to know how others got on.

      • 1 JB Hi-Fi reserves the right to cancel, at any time before delivery and for whatever reason, an Order that it has previously accepted. JB Hi-Fi may do this for example, but without limitation, where:

        3. Goods ordered were subject to an error on the Website, for example, in relation to a description, price or image, which was not discovered prior to the Order being accepted;

JB Hi-Fi will process a refund of the payment taken for your cancelled order in accordance with our website terms of sale.

      • Pricing error was the reason given.

  • Anyone else get a $50 gift card from jb for their cancelled order?

  • 😂😂😂price fixed
