I've just switched back to Skinny and to my surprise got 17GB bonus data: 13 for keeping my old number (porting from another network) and 4 for entering a buddy code (which gives the referer $20 credit) after buying a $16 plan. Website says 8GB for keeping number but I got 13, so it must be 8 in addition to the usual 5.

This bonus data is only available for use when you're on a $16+ plan.

I use about 3GB/month, so with this bonus I can keep paying $16 per 28 days for almost a year while still having enough data to use.

  Skinny has a stupid policy where even if you have 5000 free NZ and aus minutes, you still have to use credit to check voicemails. And the minimum top-up is $5. Can't recommend at all due to this.

  FYI just switched to Skinny today and they're only giving out 8GB free data + 4GB of the referral, not 8GB on top of the usual 5GB like OP said. Still a good deal but maybe need to rephrase it
