you guys must have expiring milk deals weekly? there is an empty area for dated milk at my local woolies, and its 2x$5 for it at another local.
This is the first time seeing it, perhaps previously they biffed it, I do recall seeing an email stating they are trying to cut down on food wastage
yea, i don't see these deals at others as the foodbank picks them up, but at countdown (Auckland) there are small areas around the shop for damaged or soon to be dated stock, that lewis milk range is always on clearance.
I thought the milk companies take them back to make cheese or something? The Lewis Road stuff that typically ends up on clearance are the flavoured ones, or the less mainstream stuff like non-homogenised milk.
Most milk gets credited (goes back to supplier) there is a area for reduced stuff near the cheese, sometimes will be milk there too.
Yeah, is it certain quantities that get sent back? Eg 1 x 1L bottle of trim milk?
@Foodie: It depends entirely on the supplier - if it is one which gets sent back we can't even create the reduced labels for them as the system won't allow it. It gets sent back regardless of quantity
