Only for new accounts What a bummer

  • Is there any down side to creating accounts with all these new payment services just to get a small deal?

had no issues with zip so far a long as you pay on time

    • Yes, it's similar to a credit card, and can affect your credit score.

    • Nah. I'm on a limited income and regularly use Layby, Humm, Genoapay, Zip and Afterpay when I'm buying myself treats the missus doesn't approve of. I use some a lot more than others, and I pretty much always have at least one purchase live with one of them, usually have 2 or 3 going at once, and just like any of your bills as long as you pay on time you're fine. There's no fees of any kind (unless you're late with payments), and when it comes to credit rating I've done probably close to 80 orders with these companies over the past year or so and my credit score has gone up not down since the last time I checked it.

  • $15 credit back is this mean credit will store in your account and you can use it for next purchase? Or you get a cash back to your card?

They credit the $15 to your Humm account.

  • oh weird turns out I'm already an existing customer because Humm used to be Oxipay!

  • I'd recommend steering clear of Humm. If you miss a payment (mistakes happen!), they don't notify you. They simply take the $10 fee, even if you have more than one card loaded. They'll keep charging fees until the payment goes through. Again, no notification at all. No emails to say you've missed a payment or to say the fee has been charged.

I'm usually very good with paying my bills on time, but I logged into my Humm account the other day to find six $10 fees charged back in March when my credit card expired without me realising. Again, absolutely no communication from Humm - they just take the money. I didn't even realise I was missing payments, as I would have expected a "You've missed a payment" text message or email.

Check out their Google reviews, they all say the same thing.

Stay away, it's a generally pretty shitty business practice IMO.

    • Can you pay off the full amount anytime?

      • Yeah I think you can

        • If so then just use it as a discount avenue for small purchases that you just pay off in full

    • Hey mate if you have time I would be keen for you to report this to the Commerce Commission or if you want 15 minutes (8??) of fame, Fair Go. They are quite entitled to charge for missed payments, but the fee structure cannot be deemed overbearing or punitive and not even informing you of the first charge to allow you to rectify future payments would I think be considered more than unreasonable

      • I was actually thinking that it might be worth reporting it to the Comm Comm. Might look into it tonight.

    • Make a note on the calendar next time, and pay it manually a day before (Zip sends Email alerts, not sure about Humm).

You gotta protect your credit score.

      • Do payments get deducted automagically to save you this hassle?

    • I had a similar situation happen, where I was notified however sometime before the payment I had to order a new card(lost registered CC). Missed the payment, though upon calling them and explaining the situation they were happy to undo the late charge, update my card on file and rectify any late improvements.

Anybody already got their credit back? Are they gonna refund the $15 of the first purchase? I can't see anything yet and I've paid an order through them on 11th of June.

    • Same here. Got nothing till today.

      • Called them today and it's already applied to the purchase I made during the promo period. You should see it on your transactions history as "refunded" amount.

        • Yes. Saw it. Thanks

  • Can confirm it's applied as a refund against my existing purchase as mentioned by ross above.
