  • Just what I was looking for, ordered one.

However since they are “on order” items, and clearly a pricing error, I’m expecting my order to be cancelled soon as they don’t have to stock to ship anytime soon. But oh well, let’s try…

    • Last time JB had a pricing error for me they gave me vouchers for every product that had a problem.

      • Vouchers? As in they cancelled the order and gave you like $100 or something?

    • Also what I was after - worth a shot!

  • I ordered about 6 keyboards and 6 mice (Razer) that were obviously mistakes and got vouchers for each one. Maybe about $170 plus refund. Pretty weird.
A bunch of people on GPForums got them.

Edit: opps this was supposed to be a reply to apas023

  • Wow. In for one, let's see what happens!

    • my order got cancelled as soon as order is placed, now status = cancelled

      • Mine says in progress still

  • Did they not refund your money?

    • Yes got the refund as well.

  • Ordered, thanks

  • There's no way this goes through, but let's give it a burn. Great find Monk.

  • anyone try to price match with noel leeming?

    • This gave me a genuine chuckle. Someone have a crack and post Noel's response.

      • They refused. said there is no stock in hand.

      • +1

"I would really love to match this for you however, it states on their end that it's limited stocks. We do not price match with limited stocks or no stock. "

        • Did you guys phone or just online

          • @doubledippps: I did via chat.

          • @doubledippps: Online via chat also. In-store would probably be your best bet to get it matched although it sounds like its also a backorder from Noel Leeming so not sure if that would work

            • +1

@BJ: Same here I just tried to match they say currently have no stock so can't price match

        • I'm sorry, they have limited stock. They only have 90,000 of them so are limited to that number. /s

  • I ordered one - got the received your order email and just got another to say my order has been confirmed.

  • Ordered one, thanks.

  • Thanks, ordered one now waiting for my voucher

  • Yeah I don't see it happening guys. Margin for retailers on Surface products are about 10%. They'd be losing quite a lot of money!

  • Any deals for the keyboard? its 250 bucks.

  • Do they always give voucher when they cancel the order?

    • voucher for what?

      • Gift voucher for cancelling the order

        • hold up do they not refund the money to ur bank?

          • @fofokaka: Monk received a refund and gift vouchers

        • 2 years ago for an unrelated purchase and pricing error.

    • No. I've made several orders which JB has cancelled, and they only provided gift cards one (the same sale that @Monk mentioned). Of the other two times, one was an obvious price mistake and the other was a genuine sale that they oversold.

  • Ordered. So is there no way JB will honour it as I only did it for the voucher :)?

    • what voucher?

  • Ordered, see what will happen.

  • they have online return if you want to return, any idea? thanks.

  • +1

the new surface pro is announced, so could be them clearing stock. prefer the black tho.

  • EEEEK. Feeling a little, well, aprehensive. Don't know if I should pull the trigger to try this out.

Is there any way this will actually go through??? I'll be pretty unpopular with the missus if 1500 comes off the credit card this close to xmas.

    • +1

if it does, Sell it for 1900 and tell the missus here's a 2x hundy for you to do what you want :P

      • +1

worst case return in within 7 days

        • Thanks man didnt know that was an option. If I do get one happy to sell it on for only a hundy profit happy with that but with the 7 day return, I'll do it. Happy waiting guys.

        • +1

I don’t think JB give money back. I’ve had that experience and they said they can only offer voucher.

  • Ordered one, JB email says Awaiting Stock.

  • Just ordered, will update you guys on the progress. Good find OP!

    • Order cancelled stating pricing error. No coupon. Refund will take 2-3 days to process. Worth the try at least!

  • ordered - lets see what happens!

  • I ordered using gift vouchers -this should be interesting…

    • LOL I like the synergy of gift vouchers getting maybe more gift vouchers.

  • Placed order

  • Bought a new macbook pro couple of months ago but this price is too good, bought one as a spare laptop

    • Pretty good chance this is a pricing error and will be cancelled. The black version has the correct RRP.

  • anyone tried to price match at Harvey Norman and PBTech? They both seem to have stock, so wonder what their excuse is for not doing a price match (assuming).

    • Doesn't matter if they have stock if JB HiFi doesn't. Most price matching policies in NZ require that the item is in stock at the retailer you want to price match from. E.g. Noel Leeming

Price Promise applies only to regular, in-stock product offered for sale from a New Zealand retail home appliance dealer. Excludes limited quantities, localised events with special event pricing (such as MASSIVE, Homeshow), trade quotes, stock liquidations and commercial quantities and parallel imported products. All New Zealand retailer website product offers will be considered where the product is the same."

While this may not be totally clear in their policy, "in stock" means at the retailer or their warehouse rather than back ordered/allegedly stocked at supplier. Sometimes their staff may be more generous and price match on a backordered only price, but if their policy excludes it, then that's up to their discretion.

Also I don't think Harvey Norman or PB Tech even have a guaranteed price match policy, so their excuse could simply be 'sorry it's too low/below our cost price' or simply no we can't/won't match that price with no reason given.

Most retailers also exclude pricing errors which this probably is.

(AFAICT, most people are only trying to price match because they're concerned it's a pricing error & so JB Hi-Fi won't deliver rather than because they prefer the other retailer or want Fly Buys or whatever. And if people want to try, that's okay. But it always seems a bit naff when people complain because a retailer refuses to price match when they're only trying because they think it may be more likely they'll actually get it at that price. To be clear, this isn't a comment on anyone in this thread, it's simply stuff I've seen before. Also it's true the reason given for refusing is sometimes poor/unsupported by their policy, so I can understand people complaining about that aspect.)

  • I ordered one. Order status is confirmed. Let's see what's happen

    • Man I ordered like 2hrs ago and mines still no confirmed :(

  • Order one and got 2 emails, 1 say order received and another said order been confirmed, mmm..

  • Could easily sell for $2k+ on facebook marketplace 😋

  • Ordered 1 just now, status confirmed. For what it is worth, I might just keep it.

    • Status confirmed via email or does it show status confirmed on the website under your account?

  • Pricing reverted now

    • Still showing $1499

      • Ah never mind I ended up at the black colour one

  • +1

My cc through PayPal has been charged.

    • Has it, though? The terms and conditions say that they will apply a pre-authorisation or hold to your card for the full amount, but will only charge immediately prior to dispatch.

In the event that they have actually charged, then I'd say you're in the clear, and that there's pretty limited scope for them to cancel now.

But it will come down to whether the charge is a pre-auth or an actual charge. I tried to call my bank last night to confirm, but was on hold too long and had to have my shower before the hour of power was up……

      • The charge to my card was initially just a pre auth/hold but that has since changed to a charge..

      • It has, but I think they said they would give a refund.
So I doubt it matters if they charged or not.

  • Dont want to be that guy coming into work with a flood of orders for a high end item only to see its a pricing error.
Lets see how JB handle this.

  • +1

lol, tempting but imagine if "waiting for stock" here was similar to how PB Tech are taking orders (and payment!) for 6800 XT's that won't ship until 20th March 2021? Curious to see how this plays out.

    • +1

Ha yeah. Thanks for your $1500, we will ship in 2028 when these retail at $20

  • What's the inbuilt graphics like on these?
Obviously close to no options to expand in this form factor.

    • Good enough for basic desktop work, may be ok for like small games like among us.

  • Looks like this isn't available any longer.
If I go to the link on mobile it says page not found and if I do it on desktop and click Add to Cart then I get a popup with nothing visible on it

  • Yes its gone now, wait for the order cancelled email now guys 😋

  • +2

I think you can get a decent i7 Laptop for around $1500-$1800 at PB Tech.
Don't understand why these Microsoft Surface Pro are so expensive normally (~$3K) - is it because of the convenience?
    Hence, I didn't buy…
How much do you guys think the Voucher might be if your order was cancelled?

  • +1

    Item has been removed/corrected.
I hope everyone that ordered gets one! Good luck.

  • Perfect, needed a spare laptop, thanks for the find OP

got this as ell.. surely they can't do this ?

  • I guess they're no longer doing gift cards\vouchers for errors like they use to.

    • may be because they are making way too many price errors like this

  • +3

    Haha ozzies. Underarmers forevermore.

  • 6.9 "Goods that you have ordered will not be dispatched to you until your payment for the Goods has cleared. If your payment cannot be processed, your Order will be rejected and we will notify you by email."

I dont see how this is a good reason to cancel, I obviously have the money to pay for it

      • +6

Nah, genuine pricing errors are exempt, and trying to chase that would be seen by the courts as pure greed. It's only illegal if there was intent to deceive, where there obviously wasn't in this case.

    • Can you offer to go and pay in store then? Lol

  • I guess they dont legally have to give us a gift voucher for the mistake?
