Only problem is the S10 is still $1500, which seems pretty laughable when you consider that the S11 is just around the corner

  • Still boggles the mind people spend $1500 on a phone.

Doesn't bother me if they can afford it. What bothers me are struggling minimum wage workers owing $1000 smartphones, and I've met a few of them.

They also wind up paying more than the ticket price thanks to the interest or overkill plan the phones are attached to.

hah made a typo, suppose to say *owning, but owing sounds about right too

    • which phone would you recommend bro?

My current one just gave up.

I don't use mobile much, just for taking photos on trips.

Buy within your budget? Most of the mid-range phones at 500-700 work well
If you value photography capability, get a camera and cheap mobile. That will last you for long time.

I reckon a used Pixel 2/2XL (or higher) would be a good option. The series has the best cameras around, and the phones are decent and are always the first to receive Android updates.

        Pixel 3a.
You will still get at least two year's support. Good camera, decent spec and headphone jack.

+1 for the Pixel 3a. Best phone you can buy for the price.

        • yep, probably a 3a it's a good option for a cheap phone

Xiaomi make good phones at good prices, but if photography is a priority they aren't really a good option. Google and Huawei are where I'd go first, although Huawei's aggressive noise reduction on photos bugs me.

        • xiaomi camera no good, video no stabilisation, low light photo also no good due to cheaper sensor

          • @justaddwater: Xiaomi uses Sony or Samsung lens. It's their software that let them down.

Load gcam and you can get decent photos

      • If you are into iPhones the iPhone 7 32GB at TheMarket, With a $50 Coupon discount comes to $530 at the moment.

Still quite expensive for a phone that may only get one full iOS update. I would wait for the SE 2, iphone 9, which is essentially a cheaper iphone 8 with updated specs, that should get ios updates for many years,

      • iphone 11 is good

        • IPhone 11 is $800 more!

  • Off topic slightly but. I’ve been looking at used iPhone X or sumsung 9 on trade me seem pretty good value there.

  • Expert Infotech have the S10 for $990.. so this deal isn't as good as it initially looks.

    • That might be parallel imported (grey market) models?

  • +1

Bundling two products together and still overcharging is not really a deal.

  • S10 for $1499 and Note 10+ for $1899 hahaha. Consumers, please don't encourage this behaviour.

  • I would prefer the $700 off. Considering the S10 will likely only get one further full android update, whereas the iphone for about the same price will likely get 4-5 further full iOS version updates, it doesn't make sense to buy the samusung IMO, in terms of how long it will last, and future new features. Also the S20 is due out very soon, and even photos of it have leaked. I am a note 9 user, but got it for about $600 on special just before the note 10 was released, and it is a great phone. But I do understand that the current Android 10 version is the last android version it will now get, so I am unlikely going to get any new android features.
