Amex Shop Small is back. Save the offer to your eligible American Express Card, then spend $10 or more in a single transaction at a participating Shop Small business and receive $5 statement credit.

Terms and Conditions

• Valid for payments made by 08/11/2026 to be eligible for Offer.
• Valid for purchases made in New Zealand Dollars.
• You must spend on the Card to which the Offer is saved in-store or online at a participating Shop Small business:
o For participating in-store and online businesses click https://directory.americanexpress.com/en-NZ/shop-small/. To view participating online businesses only, select the “Available Online” filter.
• Excludes gift card purchases.
• To redeem an Offer, the participating merchant must accept payment using an eligible American Express Card. If a participating merchant ceases to accept American Express Cards, or refuses or is unable to process eligible American Express Card transactions during the Offer period, the Offer will not be available at that merchant.
• Offer is limited to a maximum of $25 credit per Card and $5 credit per eligible spend of $10.
• Offer is limited to the Card to which the Offer is saved and only spend on this Card counts towards the Offer.
• Excludes purchases made with third-party ordering systems, take away, or delivery services.
• Excludes transactions where you do not spend directly with your Card to which the Offer is saved, in-store or online at participating Shop Small businesses. Offer valid at participating New Zealand locations and website only.
• Excludes transactions made through a third party establishment or payment processor, who are not a participating Shop Small partner.
• Credit is not redeemable for cash or other payment form.
• Credit should appear on your billing statement within 15 business days from qualifying spend but may take up to 90 days from the Offer end date.
• Credit will not be applied to your Card Account if your Card has been suspended or cancelled.
• Credit may be reversed if your qualifying purchase is refunded or cancelled.

              - cross device saved lists using some sort of unique code (obviously account functionality is out of the picture)

              I don't have an Amex or could be bothered to do anymore than see how they exposed their merchant data.

              Hit them up to see if you can paid somehow - can style it off their branding and do some more fun vibe coding things to drive more spend, that's worth something to them.

              @Lukesta: amazing little features - love your report!!!! I have added one merchant who didn't accept Amex even though they were listed on their website. Pretty gutted as I've made a deliberate trip to them to take an advantage of this offer!! Not sure whether it's an issue with Amex's website not having up-to-date information or merchant's issue of not having Amex payments avaliable?

                    @nzsaver: Interesting, thanks @nzsaver - Makana (both 'locations' - though tagged online only) are in the Amex campaigndata.json (which their app calls).

                    Aha - it's just their crappy UI - the 'Online businesses' tab defaults to type filter of 'Auto Rental' (they should have an 'All'). It's easy to miss this.

                    Makana listings show if you select 'Retail'

                    Fun one to puzzle throuhg :)

      Same issue, how crappy. This site from a comment above has a working 'online' filter (all, in-store, online) https://lukestaz.github.io/data-dashboard/.
      Not sure about decent online options though, I'd probably just do food (eg burgerfuel) I can pickup.

      Yip, 2x $5 for Burgerfuel on our 2 cards, shows on the same day, might be been processed at midnight because it wasn't there a few hours after purchase. Got a free kids meal with my burger too, good club deal.
