Important Japan notes
- Validity is counted in calendar days and ends at 11:59pm Japan time on the final day.
- eSIMs must be activated and fully used within 180 days of issue.
- Unlimited plan (both Premium and 10Mbps) phone data is unlimited; hotspot has a separate allowance.
- Fixed plans share one allowance between phone data and hotspot.
- Local products can't be topped up or extended, so pick a validity that covers your whole trip.
- Data-only: no Japanese phone number, calls or SMS. We recommend setting up the 'Line' app for chat/calls with locals/businesses in Japan.
