DickSmith GoPro Hero 4 $503, Kindle Touch $99, Kindle Paperwhite 3G $200 + Blanket Discounts

120

Just read 85 pages of around 5000 price changes,

Probably the best of the discounts as part of the closing down sale so far - best deals seem to be on prices which are normally pretty fixed.

Items as follows:

All of these are lowest on PriceSpy and the GoPros are by $80-$100. All GoPros are marked down.

Below are blanket deals - there may be some exceptions but this seems to be the category discounts at the moment, keep in mind these are off RRP so in many cases will not be cheapest:

  • TV's 10%
  • Mobile phones 20% excluding iPhones which are 5%
  • Printers 20%
  • Phone cases 30%
  • Laptops 20% off (Not confident on this on it's what staff said).

Staff cannot do deals on products, they are in the dark about warranties since the receivership until they have a conference call today. Remember stock is pretty much what they have on hand so all deals will not be available at all stores.

Thanks Asmcar. :) Did you happen to notice if there were any discounts on the Fitbits?

    • Yes they were discounted. Unsure of amounts of the discount and the staff had very little stock at Manners St Wellington. They said what was in the case was what they had.

      • Cheers Thank you :)

        • 20% off Fitbit but I could only find Charge and below left in stores today

Don't expect huge deals on the first day. Find out exactly what you want and then monitor the price & stock level in store in the next couple of weeks. Buy it when the stock gets low - call the store if you need to. The reason is because the liquidator, Hilco, tend to start off with small discounts in the beginning, and then increase the discount as time passes. Stores have up to 8 weeks to clear their stock and fittings.

Are you an impostor? Every ChoiceCheapies member knows the value of Eneloops!

        • How do you charge them?

        • @mikeperro1: I use the Eneloop Quick charger which I got on sale for around $26 (includes 4 AA batteries) but there is also an overnight eneloop charger or you can use any nimh capable charger.

Overnight charger goes on sale for less than $20 quite often, Quick charger on sae is around $30.

    PS4 $455, lowest since Christmas.
Ultimate Ears UE Boom 2 $214, lowest ever.

  • What do you guys think the likelihood of Noel Leeming price matching the GO pro is?

    • Try it but they may not since DS is in liqudation/receivership.

      • Yea that's what I was thinking too. Will ask anyway and see what they say

        • I wonder how much the other retailers will hurt as Dick Smith is going to end up selling the same stock at lower prices (albeit in limited quantities). Noel leeming will lose a potential Go Pro sale and any chance to upsell accessories etc.

        • @Toddy47:

I guess their view is that they won't be hurting for long!

        • @Toddy47: Well that massive Dick Xmas fire sale was not successful enough to bring DSE out of the red, so I doubt NL or Harvey will worry much

          @Toddy47:

Noel leeming ended up price matching. Wife went in, The salesman wasnt too keen to. said they really shouldn't as DSE are going into liquidation.
Then said that they probably wont have stock anyway.
Wife just said thats ok she already checked their stock and she would go there.
          Then he begrudgingly agreed.
w00t nz warranty and perfect timing as flying out tomorrow on holiday!

          Nice! Enjoy.

        • @rkl: Great news, I somewhat thought they would as long as it wasn't too much of a loss. They are likely wanting to convert "customers"
