Got an SMS recently, thought it was a scam but apparently it's legit.
Echo Law and Piper Alderman have reached a $105 million settlement with Qantas over flights cancelled during COVID. If you held a ticket for a domestic or international Qantas flight that was cancelled between 1 January 2020 and 1 November 2022 and were issued a flight credit instead of a cash refund, you may be eligible for a payout.
Key details:
- Minimum $50 per eligible person, potentially more if you had multiple affected bookings or long refund delays.
- You can still be eligible even if you later used the credit or eventually got a refund.
- Main exception: you're generally not eligible if Qantas refunded you within 30 days of the cancellation.
- It costs nothing to register and you won't be out of pocket for participating.
Over 1 million customers are potentially covered.
Register by 2 October 2026 to participate. The settlement is still subject to Federal Court approval, so payments won't arrive immediately.
Eligible customers were sent a notice by email or text with a personalised registration link.
