School holiday hack for Auckland parents - get these tickets for your kids and let them go crazy while you work from a table in the cafe. I got 2 tickets for $12 with this promo

    • Thanks that awesome.

Not valid on bank holidays or weekends though.. wonder if they will let it slide..

These scammers cost businesses thousands last time they operated (yes they say these are new owners but who buys something like this). I had to let two 200$ go last time. When you see a deal, ring the business and tell them you are happy to pay them directly if they honour the same offer. Most will do it.

I think that might be a little bit exaggerated!

It's more than reasonable for good deals, such as the half-price Flamingo credit which is instantly redeemable and clearly not a scam…

Also, if it helps: "GrabOne is under new Kiwi ownership, and we’re committed to loving local, putting you first. Every GrabOne deal you buy is protected.

When you buy a deal, the actual money you paid is now protected for up to three years. Even if the GrabOne partners' specific promotional offer expires, you keep the original amount you paid as either GrabOne account credit or a redeemable value with the GrabOne partner."

        Do you work with them?

The deals are reasonable, however the brand name has been irreparably damaged due to the poor communication before and during the liquidation process. Many people lost money on unredeemed vouchers, and businesses are out of pocket even more.

Many people will be hesitant in putting their trust in that business that burned them so badly again. Might not be a scam, but the new owners have definitely not built up enough trust yet. For all you know, it could be another "get cash and ditch" situation.

        • Nope, just a loyal customer, I suppose! I can't speak for the vouchers which aren't instantly redeemable, but my point is that it would be wrong to say that GrabOne are just scammers

Id be a bit cautious even though I've previously used them without any issue.

Pay with credit card with good chargeback policy and don't buy activities that you don't want to use for a while.

I didn't buy these deals beforehand, would just shop direct. I'm certainly not giving them any money after a relaunch after fleecing everyone last time…

Can you tell us what happened the last time round? I haven't used Grabone for quite sometime.. Did they like announce shutdown deadline and force everyone to use up their vouchers?

      • +5

They shutdown suddenly and refused to honour any of the deals vouchers people had bought.

        • +3

Omg.. now I know what you mean, nah that's F'ed up. I imagine businesses would be owed unpaid money too, and customers with unredeemable vouchers 😭

          • +3

@kenshiro: Yeah they sold vouchers, didn't pass that money on to the shops and left a bunch of angry people for the shops to deal with. Scum.

I would not touch grabone with a 10ft pole after scamming me. What's stopping the new owners pulling the same exit scam stunt, and why would somebody so quickly buy a company with such a stain to their name.

  • +3

Nothing against the poster but this company needs to be down voted to oblivion here, it defrauded people and businesses of thousands of dollars without even the vaguest attempt to make things right, being "under new owners" doesn't absolve it of previous sins.

    • +2

Curious to imagine why, with the previous Grabone's poor record of burning businesses (and buyers) - why these businesses would still collaborate with them? Hurts my head

You'd have thought that the new owners would just do a name change, that'd immediately sign up lots of people after a fresh deal site.
