Just something to be aware of. Toshiba brand was purchased by Midea, so this is basically a Midea dryer slapped with Toshiba branding.

    • I didn't know that. Do you think it'll be midea or "toshiba" quality?

      • +4

Midea is one of the biggest appliances maker. All microwaves have a core components sourced from them

        • Yes, i have a midea freeezer and they lasted 5 years already so they can be good. Just letting people aware that they're not Toshiba anymore

It will be midea, which is to say fine but dont expect after sales support or repairs. Cheap now but a couple of years later?
Although is 1k cheap for a heatpump dryer? Seems to be a lot around now for that pricepoint

        • What level of support are you expecting after a few years?

          • @ppbnb1: I own an F&P heatpump dryer (so nz design, china made by haier) and have had to have it returned under warranty, and inspected twice thereafter.

Can be anything from bearings wearing out or the sensor becoming misaligned (which could mess with the temp being pumped out).

Added point of failure being a heat pump over odd fashion vented style.

Servicing is the one good thing F&P are good at. Whereas Samsung even though have an office here are terrible. With these parallel imported chinese ones you are completely out of luck.

      • You should hope it's Midea quality.
It's 20 years ago that consumers feared Chinese brands.
Now it's competitors that fear Chinese brands

We have/had few Midea goods in our time - defo bang for your buck - freezer still going strong

  • Ordered and the realised it PREORDER for NOVEMBER! wtf fml. Will be following up Monday with them cause I ain’t waiting 8 months for a dryer jeezus

  • The fact that NZ calls heat pump to both air conditionings and tumble dryers is so confusing.

Heat pump is the underlying technology used to heat or cool more efficiently. You can get heat pump hot water cylinders too.
