Croissants 10 Pack $5 (Normally $11.20) at Woolworths.

This deal is back. Last time it was posted:
https://www.cheapies.nz/node/54895

They are Made in France.

Serving suggestion: Best eaten warm.
Last time the deal happened my kids became huge fans of these.

I asked Google a question:

Do croissants freeze well?

Yes, you can freeze croissants, both baked and unbaked, to keep them fresh for 1–2 months. To maintain their flaky texture, freeze them as soon as possible after purchasing, preferably in sealed freezer bags or wrapped individually in plastic. Reheat directly from frozen in a 180°C (350°F) oven for 5–10 minutes.

  • After they launched at $5, I had thought they were permanently $5 - how naive of me :-)

      Freshly made in France today!

They are sending them over in the secret Concorde - landing just outside Opotiki, before returning to France for the next day's fresh baking.

Don't tell anyone though - its all very hush hush ;-[]

These are good, must buy and great deal at that price. Nicely packaged and the lot I got on Monday was really fresh.

They actually are $5, cause usually they put on special advert, but the actual label on the item is $5. I noticed it when i got home lol. This is from when it was on offer last time.

I Got 4 packs last time and must say they are some of the worst crossiants I've had in this price range.

At 50 cents a piece I think these are the only crossiants in this price range.

        • Heh, we export butter and import butterless croissants

        • so you sayings its cheaper to import from "France" then bake fresh locally?

You would have to think so, else why do it?

If you're thinking that's not right, then I guess this is a great business opportunity for you?

      • Most pre-packaged cakes/muffins in Supermarkets are bought in frozen and defrosted as needed nowadays.

Stuff sold loose and in the clam shell packaging are cooked in-store.

Cut a slit down the middle put in a small dab of butter and bake in air fryer for a min or two and they come out outstandingly good. Of course the price is doubled with that dab oh so worth it.

    • Or warm them first, then add the butter in the same way after.

Or palm oil if you prefer :-)

    Bought these - yuck!

They feel “fatty” instead of buttery. Which makes sense given there is almost no butter in these; the second ingredient is “fat blend” consisting of mainly palm oil.

Because they’re not real croissants, they have to add a bunch of additives and color to make them look real.

This is ultra processed garbage. Don’t support the supermarkets in feeding us this stuff!
