No more Kogan Mobile BOGOF?

My plan from last year expired yesterday. Have been waiting for the BOGOF sale that is supposed to drop today based on previous year's timing. Unfortunately, no sale to be found.

Anyone has switched to other telco? What other plans do you recommend?

UPDATE:

Made the switch to 2D. Completed in 2 hours. Got bonus 7.5GB data for bringing my number over. Bought the $8 plan. Total carry over data now at 7.65GB.

$8 is also eligible for the daily free data hour as per current promotion.

Goodbye Koganmobile!

The Kogan mobile deals are never on an exact schedule - it is deliberately varied so it's hard to guess when.
You might be better to just jump on a monthly Kogan plan now while you work out what the best deal is longer term.

I swtched to 2D last year and have not looked back

Same. I switched earlier this year. Using the large prepay then $8 monthly prepay strategy.

Warehouse Mobile is $9 monthly prepay and is a better deal than the $8 one from 2Degrees.

        • Thanks! I made a quick comparison. I think it is a better deal than 2D for someone seeking more data.

          2D:
          + 31days monthly cycle
          + free data hour everyday

          WHMobile:
+more data for an extra $1/month
+rewards program every 3 combos bought
          -28days monthly cycle

          Mmmm choices. 🤔

@KiwiHunts4CheapDeals: You could also get Mighty Mobile. Something like this:
            https://www.mightyape.co.nz/mn/buy/mighty-ape-mighty-mobile-…

The cheapest annual plan will cost around $23.275/month and you get unlimited data, calls & text.

Or, if you don't want to pay the annual fee upfront and just want to pay monthly, it'll be slightly more expensive at $28/month - https://www.mightyape.co.nz/mn/buy/mighty-ape-mighty-mobile-…

That is cheaper than the Kogan deals and better value, as you get unlimited data instead of a set amount of data. For example, this one from Kogan is $27/month, but with a data limit:
            https://www.cheapies.nz/node/52933

The plan I'm on is their fastest plan, max 5G speed. I'm getting about 500Mbps down and 90 Mbps up on my Deco X80 5G router. I bought the deal when it was a buy 1 get 1 free, so I got 2 of the same fastest plan and split the cost with another Cheapies member. The deal came out around November last year I believe and it was posted on Cheapies. Because of this cost split, I pay only $33/month and I'm using this to replace my home fiber connection and save on costs. I think it's at least $400 worth of savings, if not more.

Anyway, you could either wait for a deal from Mighty Mobile or just get the current one (assuming it's cheaper than whatever else you're looking at). I think these are better value and cheaper than the Kogan BOGOF deals.

          • @KiwiHunts4CheapDeals: To me, 2D is better for someone looking for more data.

Yes it is but combined with the larger plans 2Degrees is better for me. Well for the first year anyway.

          For 2D
          Do the $34 f/n plan for 2 cycles and you get 80gb - $68
Then do the $8 plan for 11 months for 1.65gb- $88
          7.5gb bonus for porting number
          ~First year = $156 and 89.15 GB.
I'm not sure if I'll use all that data so I've just done1 f/n then moved to the $8 plan. Can do another round of the f/n plan if I run out of data. If I can stretch the 48gb of data a year then I'll save $26.

          For TWH
          $45 plan for first 28 days gets you 30gb - $45
          Then do 12 cycles at $9 for 3.6gb - $108
First year of rewards is 1.65gb
          ~First year = $153 for 35.25gb

@Stoic: Thanks for the detailed break down. I have made the switch to 2D. Received text that it will be completed in 2 hours :)

I am thinking to start with the $8/month and move to $34/fn when I need more data. As I'm using wifi now mainly.

Plus I saw that Free data hour is applicable for the $8 plan until 19 April. I believe the $8 plan is not eligible for the fdh usually?

      • How does this strategy work? Whats the large prepay?

        • See my comment above. You buy a large data plan with carry over data and then subsequent cycles use a cheaper plan. Then when you're runing out of data, move back to the larger plan for a cycle and so on.

Went with mighty mobile and happy with it

  • Also ditched as of last this month. 2d for now.

It's telling that there is a current (or very recent as least) Kogan offer and the only person to post it was their rep.

If they had a plan between the 4gb one and the 15gb one that would likely help.

Will likely be changing to Mighty I think and also ditching my fibre permanently for now (it's been about a week) as I am luckily enough to have a free 50mbs (though realistically between 5-20 most of the time) public(ish) wifi I can use at home anyway. Just trying to decide if the max speed plan is worth it. Though if I can get a fairly consistent 50mbs on middle plan I suspect that will be enough.
