Perfect timing, our old one is playing up so at $4 well just buy another one to work out if it's the tapes or the printer itself. Always good to have a spare and the power adapter turned up yesterday from AliExpress to stop eating up batteries.

    • Interesting. I've replaced the batteries in the "industrial version" of this model like twice since owning it like 5+ years now. And I use it weekly at minimum

      • +1

I pull out one of the batteries when it's not in use and that seems to prevent battery drain.

        • Take them out completely.

AA batteries (and batteries in general) leak frequently. If it goes onto the circuit board you can pretty much guarantee it will be stuffed forever more.

    • eneloop batteries work fine, unless you're like printing 200 labels a day

      • Sure they work but it's a faff shoving 6 of them in this damn thing if I want to use it or having 6 batteries in it all the time. Cheaper and easier to just use a mains adapter.

        • I bodged on some rechargable 18650s and have never had to charge it!

    Terms and conditions:

    https://www.brother.co.nz/brother-cashback-promotion-terms-a…

(Multiple cashbacks on same receipt may be rejected; max 3 cashbacks per eligible product

    • so they may reject the cashback if i decide to buy 3 printers and claim for all 3 from the same receipt?

    • Can you also share the number of this T&C that stating this? Eg. 5.1, or 7.3. Cheers

      • Clause 6

        6. Claim conditions

6.1 The Claimant may make multiple claims during a Promotion, subject to the following:
        (a) Only one (1) claim can be made per Eligible Product purchased.
        (b) No more than three (3) claims may be made for each Eligible Product per Promotion.
        (c) Multiple claims that use the same tax invoice or receipt details may be rejected at Brother’s discretion.
        (d) If the Claimant returns an Eligible Product for which they have already received a Cashback Amount, they must return the Cashback Amount to Brother.

        • Just found it too cheers! Have no problem getting cashback from the same receipt on previous deal, did they just recently change this?

          • @doubledippps: It’s always been there.

The one claim per eligible product just means you can only get the cashback once per device (ie don’t claim the same serial number multiple times).
If you have multiple (up to 3) label makers on the one receipt it is still valid.

            • @bigcheese: (c) Multiple claims that use the same tax invoice or receipt details may be rejected at Brother’s discretion.

According to this, they may reject multiple claims using the same receipt?

              • @doubledippps: The way I read it is that each unique label printer is one claim, so you can make 3x claims for 3 separate label printers on the same receipt.
I haven't done this though so if you want to be sure then I would suggest 3 separate purchases.

I got one back when the cash back was larger than the purchase price, and have managed to save further by buying the label tape off AliExpress. They work well, and much cheaper.

  • -1

Wedge a slip of cardboard between the contacts of the battery to prevent drain and bursting when not in use.

AliExpress for all Iron on requirements as Brother NZ is a leech for the consumables cost.

And these things have skyrocketed in cost…. Couple of years ago were $29.99 with a $25.00 (or something like that!).

    Now $53.99 +$50 cash back……hmmmm

    • +2

So they are $1 cheaper now after cashback?

      • Yeah I'm not too sure about OP's point here.

        • +1

I think his point was that when he was tracking the cashback, at the time the price of these were $29 without a cashback.

Nowadays it's $54, for what reason? Inflation hasn't doubled.

Yea sure the cashback has increased, but the cashback isn't available year round, so what's with the increase for the cost?

  • Do they come with the tape or do I need to buy the tape seperately?

    • +1

It comes with a starter tape (4m I think?) so enough to begin with.

      • Cheers. I saw Harvey Norman and The Warehouse both mentioned 4m tape included but PBT didn't mention it anywhere.

I was able to price match with The Warehouse with Smart Fox from a previous post https://www.cheapies.nz/node/49998

    As mentioned on previous posts

    AliExpress

    Power Adapter = AD-24 ($13-20) or 9V 2A 5.5x2.5 centre negative (reverse polarity)
    example

    Tapes = TZe laminated

Was going to wait until my order was ready for click & collect but they’re taking forever.

Successfully price matched at The Warehouse (online) with ChoiceMax ($25.38)

    • Good score.
Pay $25 and get $50 back plus a label maker to presumably sell.

      • Unfortunately we have not been able to verify Choice Max's stock levels of this product and we will be declining this price match. I am sorry for any inconvenience caused.
        lol

        • Same here

        • +2

Managed to price match instore though

          • @Rowjo: I managed to pricematch online. Just need to switch to another agent.

            • @The Hound: I keep getting lilly who i also got this morning

              • @Rowjo: Same here, I got Mary both times I tried to get a price match.
Apparently Price Match promise doesn’t mean much to them.

        • tried Mary , Ruby, no luck.

      • The value of these on the used market seems to be pretty damn poor, especially once they flood in during these cashbacks.

Last time I bought a couple for the tape, which was pretty horrific when you think about it

    • Risk?

7.2 Brother reserves the right to amend these Cashback Terms at any time.

7.3 If Brother considers that a Promotion is being misused for fraud, unintended purposes (e.g. profiteering from cashback), or is not being conducted as anticipated, Brother, may, at its sole discretion and to the extent permitted by law:
      (a) invalidate any claim;
      (b) disqualify the Claimant from participating in any current or future Promotion; or
      (c) modify, suspend or cancel the relevant Promotion.

      • It would be a pretty bad look on them to do this

    • Oh no. I just went to pick up mine at PBT this morning. Do you think PBT do a price match(refund) after sale?

    • Do you know if choicemax an authorized reseller? I tried to price match but got the same excuse as everyone else.

      • Probably not.

      • It’s not listed on the “where to buy” page on brothers website so I would assume not.

    • @Wakrak excuse me, does it mean I can also redeem cash back from a warehouse purchase as well?

      • Warehouse Stationery, yes.

    • wouldnt match for me as they couldn't verify stock levels :( I got summer

      • grr tried warehouse stationery and got the same person lol

  • When I get to the brother cash back and try to upload the photo of the receipt I took on my phone it says the site doesn't accept jpegs. Anyone else had this issue/found a solution?

    • Tried saving in a different format? Could use an online converter perhaps

      • Thanks, did it the bumbling untechnical way in the end - took a screenshot of the photo on my laptop. It worked….

    • I think they might have a very low file size limit. Maybe you can convert image to pdf and try.

      • Thanks, managed in the end.

  • “Sorry, you don't have access” Is the message I get when I tried to open the cashback page. Anyone else having same issue?

    • I had to create an account with a different email address. Hopefully resolves it for you too.

      • Thanks for the info. I did use a different one to I normally would use. I’ll try again with another email address.

        • Any luck?

          • @Wakrak: I have tried with another email address and using different IOS devices still no luck.

  • I got 3 printers for $76.14. Easily price matched instore. I believe 3 is maximum cashback you can get.

And having same ‘doesn't accept jpegs’ issue at Brother cash back link.

  • Anyone having issue verifying serial number?

Says "No matching asset found. Please check the number you entered and try again."

    Just my bad luck 😞

    • Where did you buy from? No issue with one I purchased from The Warehouse

      • Warehouse stationery. I got 1 black 1 white. White submitted but black verification failed.

        • Did you claim the black one under the black product page or did you use the same page/form as the white one?

        • +1

I would message them as I do recall some people had issues with the serial number verification previously.
If you click on the cashback link in the post the page has an option to message them from there.

  • Having issue accessing the Brother cashback webpage, after logging in the web page is showing a message

    "Sorry, you don't have access
You don't have permission to view this page. Contact the site's administrator for questions."

anyone else experiencing the same issue?
