  • Any idea how long its this price?

Give them a call. I assumed until Monday like most Briscoes sales that start late in the week, though being Black Friday I can't say for sure.

Just saw that it's Sunday 23rd.

It's a good price but I think for a lot of cooking 22cm is too small

    • KitchenAid has the 26cm version, but not available at Briscoes.

Screenshot the 30 year warranty, if it dies on the 29th year, pray briscoes and the supplier still in business 🤣😂

    • +4

Not to mention yourself still kicking it around :)

      • +2

And that you can still find the screenshot

        • +1

It will be a subscription model to retrieve those by then

I can't edit my post because someone else has edited it, can someone remove the bit about the 30 year warranty being a typo please.

    • I've updated it now.
You can still edit your post. The reason you wouldn't have been able to at the time was because I was updating it and only one person can edit at a time.

This is the same dish that was part of that New World promotion a while back.

It's slightly too small to be considered family sized. Still useful but don't be surprised when it's a bit smaller than the typical ones you see. This price is OK but I would definitely not pay more for it.

In my opinion it's not a great piece of equipment. It's enameled but uses a rough cast type finish on the enamel which gives it a non enameled cast iron look, but loses the smoothness of the enamel which I prefer. Unless something has changed, the only smooth enameled bit is where it contacts the heating element. In my opinion this isnt what id want for an enameled finish like this.

    • Yeah it's the same one, just opened the box now and it feels like raw cast iron apart from the smooth base.

      • Even the inside? I got a frying pan that is smooth on the outside and rough inside and itd be so much better reversed

        • Just like myself it's got a smooth bottom and that's it.

I was a bit disappointed as well when I opened it, I'd Googled the model and all the ones I found online with the same name/size looked exactly like this apart from having a smooth coating on the inside, but Briscoes didn't show the inside so I just assumed this one was the same.

The rest of the range, the pie dish and baking dishes, all have a smooth enamel/ceramic finish.

    • Oh I just came to say "I love cast iron but CBF babying a casserole dish" but if it's enameled then great, even if it's not perfect.

  • I realise this is primarily for the oven, but can you use these on a gas stove as well, or would that just be too much direct heat?

    • You can with the caveat that it works best for stuff you want done low and slow, like a bolognese, because it will take a while to heat up but will hold a shit load of heat once hot.

      • It claims induction-compatible but has anyone tried it? If a thing has feet or a ring or not enough iron or too much coating sometimes an induction hob gets all snobby and won't play.

Okay… but how does that have anything to do with gas stoves?

        Makes sense - thanks.

Yes, of course it can be used on a gas stove. It's cast iron. We have a cast iron enamel frying pan and a cast on enamel casserole use on the gas hub all the time. Also use it on the induction stove top. Another trick you can only do on induction stove is to put a couple of tea towels over it to insulate the pot turn it down and use it as a slow cooker.

It's the enamel coating that I wasn't sure about - thanks for the confirmation.

Also good trick with respect to an ad-hoc slow cooker.

  • Thanks for posting this OP, just ordered Casserole dish and Baker large for my sister for Christmas, great deal, free shipping code was handy too!

  • Thanks @Flippant and @bigcheese for the shipping code.
    Nice deal.

  • How do you know it's cast iron? I don't see the material listed anywhere for it. Just "stoneware"

    • +1

Says "Crafted from cast iron" in the description

  • Thanks, bought everything but the casserole dish.
I got very lucky with a black 24cm Staub on Amazon US last year. Lucky = still over $250.

  • Instore they don't look very good quality. Don't think they are anywhere near worth the normal price either.

  • I swear Briscoes bs re "Normal Prices" should be illegal

    • $289 is the advertised rrp on the NZ Kitchenaid site for the casserole dish, but yeah, if Briscoes sold $1 scratchies they'd be $5 during the week and then they'd discount them down to $2 during the weekends and $1 for Black Friday and Boxing day and tell everyone they're getting a deal.

  • 22cm 3.3L is Oos

  • I bought the pie dish and baker large, they arrived but we're so badly packed they were in a bunch of pieces in the box. Thankfully Briscoes was good about it and would reship, cause the special is gone now. Rebuying at the original price is out of the question.
